I just bought a 25 gallon, hexagonal shaped fishtank and am thinking about what to populate it with........

Just wondering if any of you have something similar and if so what do you have going in it....

Thanks

spider, fresh.....

Beta? Had you had two of those, it wouldnt have been for long cause you cant have two males together or theyll fight to death unless they have somewhere else to go...

Judge, gotta look those up in google, be right back

Goldfish.

Otherwise you're going to spends hundreds replacing fish & trying to get the tank bio perfect.

Actually Dempsey's are fairly easy fish to care for. However Slim, your tank may not be big enough.

I thought about several goldfish but the guy at the store told me they tend to swim horizontally more than vertically so we'd end up with trouble as the tank is like this..

those are nice, cichlids but yeah theyre a bit too big.....it says they grow up to 20 cms....most I could have in there is about 10 cms.......

I was thinking perhaps a school of 20 tetra neon or cardinals...... a Betta, and whatever else I can come up with that would go well...

whatever you get, I recommend a "bottom feeder" (or two) such as Catfish to keep your tank a bit cleaner.

I agree on a bottom feeder, everyone needs one of those... Unless you are a sportsbook...

I would get a heater, (if necessary) and fill it with a variety of small tropicals that can co-exist together. So many of the fish mentioned so far do not get along well with others.

That way you can have a community and variety of different fish... Then name them your favorite RX characters...

This will be my third tank setup......

The first one is 20 gallons, houses a rather large bala shark, a rather large iridescent shark, two rather large catfish *but not your regular ones, these are like 10 cms, silver with black spots and long long long whiskers, two swordtails, two Cullys, a tiger barb or barb tiger or whatever and one of those things that eat off the glass....

The second one is 10 gallons, houses 6 large pearl gouramis, 2 catfish, a tiger barb (whom I had to relocate because he attacks my iridescent shark) and again, one of those that stick to the glass to eat....

I would like to get creative with the third tank though :p

Slimmy, get some sharks...they last forever, unless you acidently drowned them like I did last year...Get some frogs too fun to watch...Also if you want alot of "tank action" throw a couple crawfish in the tank, Warning, the crawfish will attack other fish...Fun to watch when the tank is active..
Crawfish are cool but they and up doing major damage...Get some Jack Dempseys, stay away from Betas and Fancy tail guppies and neon tetras...

Slim,

I hope you plan on upgrading those tanks sometime too something bigger as they are way too small for those type of fish.

hmmmmm something bigger? there seems to be alot of room in both tanks and the fish seem to be rather happy in each of em........

Journey, as I said I have a bala shark and an iridescent..... or are you referring to a real shark?

Just visited the Florida Aquarium this weekend and have lots of ideas for you.

Seahorses would be kinda cool and different.

I had some piranhas a few years ago and really didnt get much enjoyment out of them FWIW.

Enjoy your tank.
