WTO ruling on Net betting downplayed

A World Trade Organization decision last week upholding a challenge to U.S. Internet gambling laws made waves around the world, but most experts say it will have little — if any — any impact on U.S. efforts to clamp down on online betting.

So what do you think - lets think outside of the box for a moment...

if the US eventually does abandon attempts at prohibition and allows sites to open up on shore - will this put the websites off shore out of business?

Will the nevada casinos buy them up for the client base then combine it with their own clients?

any thoughts on how that will work?

My thought is that long term it wouldnt be a good thing for offshore books at all.

Stardustsportsbook.com would be huge... Unless the offshore books somehow made their odds better?

I suppose taxes would be the issue that would determine the consumer price of betting at onshore books as compared to those offshore.

Jaypaw,

I think Taxes would be the determining factor as well. Some would choose to pay, most would not, so we would not lose the quality of offshore betting.
