Thanks JFS. In the November preseason NIT match-up Geo. Tech beat UCON 77-61 as UConn shot just 37.9 percent on 25-for-66 from the floor and was even worse from the foul line, making just 10 of 30 attempts. They were 1-for-10 on 3-point attempts.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>"We got (beat) physically and mentally," coach Jim Calhoun said. "Georgia Tech handled us in every way. We took bad shots. We were not a tough team tonight. That's something we've been known for for years. Toughness is fighting through a screen. Toughness is diving for loose balls. Toughness is making one more step to help a teammate.

"We were made to give in by Georgia Tech's defense. They stopped everything. They outplayed us. they outhustled us. They outworked us. Tonight was an exceptionally negative night."

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

"Emeka Okafor never felt good the whole night," Calhoun said. "He begged to play. The doctors assured us he's not going to do any permanent damage. His timing offensively and everything else was thrown off."

Jim Calhoun's opinion of his teams effort Vs. Geo. Tech.

This is a different UCONN team even though thet didn't deserve to win tonight! Okafor will not have 2 bad games back to back! I'm not a fan of Ben Gordon even though I used to go watch him play at Mount Vernon when he was in high school! Georgia Tech can play a smothering defense and this will hurt Gordon! Duhon played good D on Gordon and he really wasn't that much of a factor! It comes down to Okafor! I think he drops 20-25 Monday night!

No question - cannot compare the teams then and now. I have to agree about Okafor, he is the key.

I'm not saying a side or the other, but you would have to think that the line goes up another 1 to 1.5 soon, as the boards look to be huge edge for UConn in this one.

Seems a lil' lite for an opener, I don't see fair value for GT as it sits now.

Dante,
I disagree I think UCONN by double digits as much as I hate them! I should be rooting for a BIG EAST TEAM AS Rutgers is my team!

I'm not so sure GT isn't the call in this one. UCONN still blows at free throws.

No NJ Sports I'm not an alumni, just a Scarlet Knight FAN!! My buddy Kevin Bannon coached there a while ago and we played ball together in camp and I've been following them for years! I'm a former New Jersey GUY!

Goergia Tech covers and probably wins as I believe the revenge factor is overrated...

The Public is all over UCONN...

I suspect that the wise guys will be gobbling up the 6's as they appear...

Will be VERY TOUGH to beat a UCONN team twice in one season! The points might be high to some people but I think Okafor drops 20-25 and stabilizes the big Austrian!
