I really like Olympic, and respect Spiro greatly, but why is he the only one who doesn't have to

honor his line on the Don Best? I would really like to know the anwser to this question. I am getting more and more tired of seeing a line on the don best, calling there, and having them read me another line. If he doesn't like the screen then and want to use it to display his current accurate line, then why doesn't he just go off the don best?

Several reasons:

1) Because a lot of people, if Oly has the same line as is available elsewhere, and you already called, will just bet it anyway. Some won't because they are pissed, but a lot will.

2) It's been rumored (ahem) that Olympic uses Don Best as a method for betting into shops which follow them. Spiro likes one side of a game. He posts a line move on Don Best while not actually moving his number. Others blindly follow him. He bets the side he likes at a better number.

This is why I have said for years (ever since I became aware of how it actually works) that the Don Best software should be tied into the wagering software of the book. No human intervention needed (except when there are problems) and the line would reflect what is actually available from the book.

Bart, the problem with this scenario is that many lines don't move so much on money but on who did the wagering. The super sharps that move numbers only have to bet a side once to move a game a point or more, where as "square" money might take 4 or 5 maximum bets to move a game even half a point. Consequently just looking at closing charts for any given game will not tell you where the line should be in relation to the opener.
