Thanks WB

Some observations........

First off, like you mentioned, I just cant justify tying my money up for this long a period of time for basically an even money payoff.

If I were inclined to bet this type of propostion (which I actually have done years ago), would focus on looking at the UNDERS.

The general public and fans of certain teams will almost always expect more out of their team than what actually can be expected and the oddsmakers know this and will have the totals ever so slightly higher than should be.

Another factor, is a team is not guaranteed to play their full 162 game schedule. That one game they may not play may cost you if you bet the OVER.

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE RULES REGARDING HOW MANY GAMES PLAYED ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THE WAGER OFFICIAL WITHOUT GETTING VOIDED.

PS- Without studying it closly, that FLORIDA OVER 82 just looks to good to be true. Interesting indeed. Hope you win it if you play it W.B.

I do usually look at unders, but this year a few overs looked appealing. It is true there is an overs bias. I did the math and found that as a whole, the numbers for this year reflect an expectation of 16.5 more wins than there were last year. That is fairly small though in the greater scheme of things, about half a win per team.

The rain out rules are almost completely uniform, team must play 160 games to be official. If the rules don't reflect it, then this would fall under the "Las Vegas rules apply" clause. I could see though a mess developing for rules not written well.

Tend to agree on most of your selections. When I looked at the totals a week or two ago, the Florida one looked the most curious to me. If they still have some hunger they should finish over 500 by at least 8 games.

I took Fla over the total(I found an 81 thenbut still like it at 82) for the very same reasons Wild Bill cites. Line just didn't seem right with most of team back and division weaker over-all.
Also, like Astros over 91 but mostly because of 3 bottomfeeders in that division.
I don't think Petitte and Clemens will be as big an addition as commonly believe. Age and new ballpark for Clemens and new ballpark for Petitte will limit both's success. However, I think rest of Astros' pitching staff and schedule will be enough there to get the 92.
Also, like over 73 with Cleveland and under 86 with Giants amd under 82 with Orioles.
