I got a match play for $200 that pushed at ABC Islands. But they count it as a loss. Harvey says "what happens happens." They won't let you use the match plays on anything but a straight bet. I spoke to Harvey at ABC and gave him my opinion of the weak rule they threw down my throat.
Here's to you Harvey and ABC Islands.

Ummmm

What did the rules state BEFORE you placed the match play?

Checked their website and did not see any rule regarding a PUSH on a matchplay.

Fishhead - Thanks for taking an interest in my situation.
Your exactly right. I checked the website before placing the bet to check as well and figured that a tie was always a tie. Which they didn't care to mention on their website. The other side of my "match play" was a push, how could the "match" in "match play" be a loss? They are just sorry and don't want to take the time to give me another play. They would rather sit and argue with me about it on the phone for ten minutes.
Harvey and ABC need to wake up.

Fishhead - It was a true "match play" in the sense that I put up $200 and they matched it. I had Oklahoma State - 2 on Saturday.

Ok, gotcha.

Would be interested what others think about this ruling.

Have found in the past that this varies from sportsbook to sportsbook.

Some allow you another shot, some dont.

My personal feeling is that a sportsbook SHOULD regard it has a push(which it is), and give the player another shot.

When playing a matchplay, I always make a point of asking about this rule before playing.

Again, would love to hear more thoughts from others on this subject.

Thanks Judge and Fishhead. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard them say that today. If that was the case then they should of said so in the read back or at the least have it one their website. I think it's a chicken crap way to extort a little extra money from players. What a joke you are ABC and Harvey.

A push should be a push. But matchplay's and bounus stuff have different rules. I hate too say it, but if you didn't ask beofre you made the play, you don't have a leg too stand on. Plus Harvey is fair, but he ain't the boss.

A more specific question might be.........

If ABC did not have specific rules regarding a PUSH on a MATCHPLAY, do you consider them in the wrong for not letting a customer have another shot with the MATCHPLAY????

THANKS

The way many match plays work is that the money is placed as a $0 bet that pays off the winning amount. If you look on your bet history, I suspect this will be the case.
So, rule wise you have no leg to stand on.
Ethics-wise, it definitely will hurt your standing as a long-term customer. And it is a little misleading.

An example of a mistake I made once long ago, I had a bonus of $600 from a book, so I placed a moneyline bet on a -300 dog. I was surprised to find out I had "won" $200, instead of having $800. I was in the wrong, but it was a rookie mistake. The next time the situation came up, I took all underdogs, so as to maximize my value on that bet.

Sometimes, we live and we learn, it's when we stop learning that the living becomes hard.

Exactly. Either play a huge ML dog, OR parlay some moneylines, OR play a 3 team parlay to make those mathcplays worth over 75% of face value.
