And how good is Melo? Passing him up for a scrub that is obviously never going to play in the NBA - they did not even get a decent player for passing on Melo - this kid gets 25+ every night now.

they wouldnt be better, no ****in way.....melo doesnt play defense at all and in my opinion prince and darko together are better then melo himself....the reason they drafted a center is because they couldnt have lebron and they already got prince who is playing melo's position.

prince is a great defensive player and a decent passer, melo is just a scorer who cant play defense

For starters Wade is better than Hamilton and Price is average at best and Darko does not play in the NBA. How can Prince and Darko be better than Melo when Darko does not play? I take it your a Piston fan?

Me a pistons fan? yeah right

how is he better?

he played around 20 games less then hamilton and is not the guy who gets doubled team on the heat team like hamilton does

their stats are the same but i'll rather have an experienced guy on my team that i know will definitely contribute then a rookie.

what i meant by saying that prince and darko are better fit for detroit is because what use would prince and carmelo be to the pistons when they play the same position....once darko adds some muscle and gets used to life over here he will be a great addition to that front court for years to come.

melo doesnt fit the way the pistons play basketball because he dont play no defense

im a kings fan BTW

Carmelo bagged 41 tonight in leading Den to victory. The Pistons blew it by not grabbing him. Now they are stuck with a 7 ft goof who at best is a Shawn Bradley clone. "We don't need another guard". The Portland Trailblazers are still being haunted by that statement 20 years later. Who was that guard they passed on in the draft? Michael Jordan.

Obviously, the Pistons would be better off with Melo this year, couldn't do any worse the Darko. But he wouldnt fit as well with Pistons either. Wouldnt have near the same type numbers.

41 points in a win is great. But he also had 0 assists and 4 turnovers. Not to mention , only 5 boards.

Sure the Pistons look dumb right now. Remember Darko is only 19 years old. There is no telling what kind of up-side he will have in say 5 years, just like there is no telling where Melo will be in five. In other words talk to me in 2009.

Joe Dumars bleeped up big time not taking Carmelo! I'm sorry to say but Darko or (Dorko as i like to call him) is a bust! Dumars can't escape the reality of that, he knows he fricked up and Dorko was never going to work out in the short term, so he went after Wallace to help out. He didn't even call CA in for an interview they were so high on Dorko. Some fat euro agent is laughing his ass off right now thats all I can say. The kid is nowhere near NBA ready. 5 year project? Rookies only sign 3 year deals! Are you telling me the Pistons will resign Dorko? No chance! Dorko will be playing in somewhere like Orlando by then.

Bozzi i know where you are coming from, Dorko fitted team needs more the CA, but the thing about the draft is you have to take the best player available always, regardless of team needs. Otherwise you look pretty silly if you get it wrong! They could have dealt RIP and still aquired wallace anyway plus have the offense of CA. I think they would be even more deadly then they currently are. Carmelo really wouldn't be required to play so many minutes in Detroit coming off the bench injecting instant much needed offence. Defence will take them deep into the east, how far remains to be seen

This is no slight on Joe Dumars. He has put together a great team. He simply was ill advised by his scouts on this one. My point is Carmelo has far more upside then Dorko ever will. Bad draft.

nice post shiny

carmelo is only 19 too

pistons picked up wallace for offence and he scores from the perimeter just like carmelo. wallace will be gone next year because he wants to play in new york.so this trade will be a bust.next 3 years det will be trying to draft or trade to get a scorer and they could of had anthony all along.when you have great defensive players you need carmelo to block shots??

det has a white center 3x better than dorko will ever be already. i think det has too many players playing too many minutes. in the playoffs the best 5 has to have all the minutes.

How is the Wallace trade a bust if he leaves next year??? Because it gives the Pistons some valuable cap space that they wouldn't have had without the trade? Because it gives them a great chance to come out of the East, and possibly compete for the title? Those sound like reasons it was a great trade to me.

And as far as Darko/Carmelo...Melo would be averaging about 10-15 points in Detroit and Darko would be getting all the PT in Denver if the roles were reversed. Darko would have started out slow, but would be just starting to blossom given all the early season experience, and people would be talking about how Detroit really missed the boat not taking a franchise big man.

Give it a few years.

"Darko would be getting all the playing time in Denver". Thats a joke right? Darko has been playing some minutes lately because Det has had 25 point leads in the 4th qtr. Darko is completely lost out there(a bust). And to say Melo would be getting 10-15 minutes in Detroit is silly. Carmelo is a polished skilled b-ball player. Melo plays in the far superior Western Conference and his minutes has INCREASED down the stretch. He's playing nearly 40 min a game now and is carrying Den.

Let's say.....your 18, you had to experience war first hand throughout your childhood and then you get shipped to the states where you dont know shit, come on give the guy a break and let him get used to life here.....us guys from former yugoslavia, we like homecooking and our parents are a big influence in our lives....he doesnt have either of those

couple more years and he will be dominating the east!

Darko could be the next Dirk. Or maybe not.

But it is too early to tell. Give him at least 2-3 years.

First off..Larry Brown doesnt play rookies..In his system you earn your stripes..If Riley was coaching in Miami Wade might not be playing..

Secondly..If Darko was playing for the Nuggets who knows what he would be doing right now..The kid is young, has great length, and needs time to adjust to the physical game in the NBA..Playing in practices everyday against Wallace will not hurt him..

Thirdly..Brown is a master with young talent..Dumars knew what they were doing when bringing in this kid..Prince did not see minutes last year under Carlisle until the end of the season into the playoffs and look at the player he is now..

In conclusion, Darko I believe will be a great player..His athleticism at his age and his willingness to learn will both work for him..When he gets minutes he will be fundamentally sound..be patient..This kids time will come and when it does..I believe we will see the real deal..
