Hotel's a dump. Burn holes in my comforter. Room smelt like previous occupant smoked 100 packs of cigs in there. Customer service was below average at best. You might get lucky and find one or two people who are good. Their "coaster" is so slow it's pathetic. The Big shot was OK. Restaurants weren't really all that good. They have decent slots. I think they have a single 0 roulette wheel if that's your bag. In short it's a good place to gamble, bad for just about everything else.

Fine dining in area is Carl,Jr. across street.
Actually didn't find hotel or casino that bad but its just a crummy location and I like to be able to roam easily on foot from casino to casino especially for blackjack purposes.

Short bus ride or cab to the Strip from there. Not the best place to be walking around at night, especially avoid in back of the Strat. The money you saved you will spend on cabs to the hotel you could have stayed at. Next time you want a cheaper room, try somewhere nearer the middle of the Strip: two examples being the IP or the Boardwalk.

That's funny. I always thought that since it's part of the Strip, it's safe. My dad and I walked around up there between Stratosphere, Hilton, and Sahara, thinking "we're safe, it's the Strip, right? Had kind of a creepy feeling, but thought it was just me being paranoid.

Illini, the area Fish is referring to is known as "Naked City". It is behind the Strat, and while the area near the Strip there is relatively safe, it is still not the best of areas.

Illini-

Its not THAT bad on the Strip in front of the Tower. The high drug area is in BACK of the hotel.

Not really that bad on the strip side, but still not good.

One I moved to Vegas in 1984, thought that Carls Jr. was the greatest place since sliced bread!

I actually would like to see some of the bad areas of Vegas. I think of Vegas, and I just think of one beautiful place. It's kind of hard for non-locals to believe that it's not paradise. Next time I go, is it safe to drive around the whole town during the day?

My wife and I went there for a show once (American All Stars-actually a good impersonator show) and it came with a free buffet. So we walked in, filled up our plates and the place smelled soooo bad that before we even sat down, we threw our plates with all the food that looked to be sitting out for HOURS in the trash--PLATES and all.
Next time stay at a newer place..that place looks like it'll start crumblin at anytime.
Paris and Venetian are my co-favs !

Basically, yes it is.

The only real problem area, even during the day, would be the area just north of the DOWNTOWN area.

About a 3 square mile area is very bad..........but you will probably survive during the daylight hours.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GO THERE AFTER DUSK!!
