Magic and Larry did it in 1979, no they didn`t win NBA MVP, but they put the NBA back on the map....And 25 years later these two guys may save the game again IMO

Can you imagine Lebron James playing High School basketball this time last year!?

The best part about these two players position in the NBA is they both play with longtime losing NBA franchises...Both Larry and Magic went to the top two franchises ....

The NBA has been in trouble and going down hill for the past 6 years with a whole era of great players (old school) all retiring , with players like Duncan, KG and McGrady all quality people off the court, maybe the NBA isn`t in that bad a shape afterall...

Take off your Boston glasses just once eh?

You`re going to compare guys like Magic and Bird whole career to what these two teenagers have done? Base it on one year, Bird was 23 and Magic was a sophomore out of Michigan State, they BOTH went to winning franchises, Boston was losing at the time yes, the Lakers had Kareem...Its so easy for you to make that statement AFTER their careers played out...

These two are teenagers carrying the NBA, you`re wrong...

Not so sure that they are already "carrying" the NBA. Couple good ballplayers i agree , but comparing them to "Bird and Magic" i think is quite a bit premature.

As they learn more of bigger egos, bad attitude, the feeling their poop don't stink, and the almighty Greed, they will do more harm than good, but then again, it adds drama, and we all know what drama can turn into.

I'll say it again, the NBA front office can help themselves, but choose not to for whatever reason. NBA has seen its best days.

David Stern said a few days back the NBA was the greatest sport these days. LMFAO. But in his defense, he really couldn't tell the truth.

The Celtics, if I remember correctly, were around 20 wins the season before Bird came in.

The Lakers had Kareem, but they were a mediocre team at best.

Their simultaneous rise to the NBA after the showdown in the NCAAs not only brought the NBA to a pitch it may never see again, but is largely responsible for much of the success of the NCAA tournament since then.

Two fantastic showmen, with great work ethics. We were indeed blessed.

Of course they aren`t Larry Bird and Magic...Two NBA ALl Time First Teamer`s ...

I would like to see the rookie stats of all four players...Both Anthony and James have the abilty to be the next MJ, and both are doing things even the great MJ didn`t do at this age...These two have made the most impact since Bird, Magic!

I hate the attitude of NBA players, is it fair to assume these two will both end up the next Allen Iverson?

They were LEGENDS in their first year in the NBA!........ and who knows for sure, but that could be a status Carmello and Labron might NEVER achieve.

JMAN--READ MY LIPS!!!

Forget stats........LARRY AND MAGIC had 10x the impact on the NBA in their FIRST year compared to what Carmello and Labron.

Larry and Magic played on what were two allready storied franchises that allready had a huge fan base that was dying for more.

JMAN- How old are you?

Another factor was the NBA was still a league that many sports fans still respected.......not like now.

Giving you a break here JMAN and saying that MAGIC AND LARRY would have a tougher time making an impact in todays game as back in their rookie years.

Yes Boston was horrile the year before Bird, so was Cleveland and so was Denver...Bird didn`t turn Boston around in one year , neither did Jordan in Chicago...The turn around in Denver and Cleveland led by two kids fresh out of high school is just as impressive...

Alot of factors are associated with the Bird Magic era....Cable TV being the biggest, Cable TV made the NCAA and Sports in general grow greater than any other time. The Bird and Magic timeline fits right into that as well, right place right time...

Cable TV changed sports more than anything.

Getting into these debates with you JMAN is like being in a reality version of THE SPORTS REPORTERS.

No, I will not be playing the part of Bob Ryan even though he is from Boston.

Start by reading what I said, I never said they will turn into NBA legends, you can`t be a legend in one year...look up the word next time...

Bird did turn the Celtics around in one year.
They won over 60 games his first year.

Agai, I am NOT comparing what they will end up doing...They have a great chance though of doing very big things..I think Lebron is a HOF lock barring injury.....

Why you have taken the arguement to the level of comparing Bird and Magc`s whole career to what I stated is beyond me...I merely stated these two have made the most impact since Bird Magic..I don`t feel your reply back is even close to fair...Then asking me how old I am? LOL!

Fishhead=EGOMANIAC...I like an egomaniac though!

These guys may be having great years, but they probably are not even in the top 10 for impact seasons by a rookie (based on games won versus the previous season or advancement through the playoffs to at least the finals, take your choice).

Shaq is still the real MVP (imho), without him the Lakers are on the outside looking in.

You guys have to be kidding me...

Magic goes to LA, joins Abdul Jabbar..LEGEND!

Bird goes to Boston, to team with Cowens, Tiny Archibald and Pitols Pete all NBA greats!

I mean neither guy single handidly put his team on the map....If Bird and Magic went to Denver and Cleveland they would have done no better! Please...
