Talked to the owner of Gold-Trader.com and he was hit Friday with a ddos attack. I asked Saturday if anyone, particulary Russian, had contacted them demanding money and he said no, but his email was shut down so he wouldn't know. I told him if he did, dont give into them bastards. He agreed that it would be a stupid move.

I just got off the phone with him and he said he recently was contacted are they demanded 10K western-unioned to Russia. Go figure.

No problems with my transfer though and he was a damn nice fella.

It appears the DOS / Hackers are the new age gangsters. Telling people to stick 'em up over the Internet. And having a bit of success it would appear. At the moment, virtually no Site is out of their reach. Probable a lot of ideas being thrown around in their boardrooms. Darn shame. We'll catch-up somewhat but it appears cat and mouse for immediate future.

the only reason they are having any success is because some people actually pay them.

if nobody paid the extortion, they wouldnt still be doing this shit.

Good point RPM. If nobody paid, they'd soon more on to their next no good venture. Paying the ransom will only lead to more and broader ranging DOS attacks.

But a few will always pay, "They shut me down I lose $200K. If I pay them $30K, at least I'll have the $170K." And that's just what the DOS jerkys are banking on.

You would think that Mr. genius from Microsoft could figure out a way to beat these guys. I guess not.
