I have checked out Best Buy, Circuit City and Staples...EBAY is great but I really dont have time to screw around, I need to buy it tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. I actually bought one at Circuit City yesterday but I am going to return it, as I got more than I need.

I too am thinking of buying a laptop as a second computer. (My HP Windows 98 desktop is basically ok, but want to know a little bit).

First of all is the best reccomended come with Windows 98 or some other Operating System. Secondly, can a laptop also be used to hoop up to the internet the same way as my desktop; with the phone plug -in thing. You can tell I don't know too much. Will I need to buy anything else to use it at home for the internet or are they all internet ready as this HP came off the shelf from Circuit City?

When shopping for computer gear and other electronics stuff, I almost always start here

http://www.cnet.com/

Cnet is a very good site for comparison shopping, both specs and price.

Find the models you like and prices here, and then comparison shop at other sites or local retail.

If you can manage to find something with Windows 2000 loaded on it (instead of XP), I can not emphasize how much faster it will run.

XP is a big fat piece of shit-on a desktop, let alone on a laptop.

lol

I fully agree, that has to be the WORST OPERATING SYSTEM ever made. I do not like XP at all, to much problems with software I install on that thing and man it eats RAM like its nothing. I am running 2000 Professional on mine. I'd recommend most of you guys do the same, their are more service packs (i.e patches, updates) for 2000 then any other operating system for Windows. If you are looking for an laptop check BestBuy. I hear Toshiba makes some pretty good laptops.
