This team would not have been a top ten team back in the early 90's...Watch out for the lower seeds...this will be the year one or two go all the way to the Final Four...

true but there are no GREt teams left anymore, the game has changed, high school players leave to the NBA guys go early. this is what we have. KY is pretty good considering all of this.

Kentucky has improved , they were mediocre, especially for them at midseason...

I watched them alot during midseason @ Vandy @ Fla etc...they had no half court offense at all...I am shocked they are the top dog....

I still think UCONN is the top team, followed closely by Ok. St. Duke and Pitt.

Jman, i still rate duke #1, kent #2, Uconn #3, and all these teams are highly beatable.. due to high school players going to the nba early, the teams are weaker and parity is really there. It was a joke to see St Joes, Stanford and Gonzaga, one two and three in the polls before the tourneys..

Dante- I admit they are rolling and I have noticed you are high on them....I wonder though how well they will do in a tight game in the half court offense, it seems they lack scorers...

I will admit I soured on them after several poor offensive showings earlier in the year...Its really wide open though, I have never seen it so watered down..

No doubt Dante...I remember LSU back in 1986 they were very mediocre , caught fire and went very deep....It happens every year...Tubby always has his team peaking....

When Fitch came back Kentucky began to roll.

I love the way they play defense, and it looks like they can score points unlike last year. A very worthy favorite.

I think Washington can beat Kentucky in the second round... at least I hope so, I have a Washington futures ticket.

I do think they could though.

Watch out DM, as I think Wash could & should definitely be the play if a fat to fair line is hung, but Ky is really rotating the rock right now, spotting up & knocking down treys, and is much more physical and quick, than what the Huskies are familiar with to a man.

UK has(as Journey noted) stepped it up and out after Fitch returned, as he is helping open up and mix in others, which has fed to increased overall intensity, in contrast to earlier this year, when it was all Hayes and Fitch.

St.Joe will be the first #1 to go, I like Martelli/Big-Five, but Packer is right..reality is coming and soon!

KENTUCKY is clearly deserving of a NUMBER 1 SEED and they are most insider's choice to WIN the BIG DANCE...

The committee emphasizes play during the FINAL few weeks of the season and given that, Kentucky has much more of a chance to WIN it ALL than ST. Joseph's (the weakest number 1 seed)...

Personally, I think it's a joke to give St. Joe's a number 1 seed even though they had such a great record...

When virtually no one thinks they will get to the FINAL FOUR, then why are they a number 1?

AP No.2 Kentucky has picked up the pace, winning and covering its last nine games. The Wildcats at (pick em) will merit serious consideration vs. any team in the tourney.

Shrink-

I think the committee did the right thing in awarding the #1 to St. Joe. They rewarded them for their perfect season and its a nice story. Now there are no excuses for them they have the preferred path to the final 4.

With all the public sentiment against St. Joe I bet we are going to "have" to be on them alot while they are in.

When I said #1 , I meant OVERALL #1 for the entire tourney..Of course StJoes is a weaker #1 than Kentucky...But Kentucky is regarded as the top team in the tournament, and I think thats got to be the weekest TOP SEED IN A LONG LONG TIME....They will NOT make the FINAL FOUR!

There seems to be very few seasons when Kentucky is not a top contender for a title. Great tradition. Oh how I miss the IU/KY rivalry.
