Scottie Pippen told the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday that he likely won't play again this season and that there is almost no chance he'll play next season.
I'd like to play once more to say goodbye to the game at this level,'' Pippen told the newspaper. "But I don't think I can go anymore. I want to, but I don't think I can."
Pippen, whose 17-year career has included six NBA championships, declined to announce his retirement at this time, reports the Sun-Times.
Pippen played just 23 games this season before undergoing knee surgery on Dec. 12. Problems with his left knee continued when he tried to return, and Pippen acknowledged that there's no reason to risk further damage this late in the season when the Bulls will not make the playoffs.Chicago Bulls operations chief John Paxson had hoped Pippen could play at least 60 games for Chicago when the guard/forward signed a two-year, $10.3 million deal last year. It's likely Pippen won't hold Paxson and the Bulls to the second year of the deal, reports the Sun-Times.Paxson told Pippen that his job now is to tutor newly acquired point guard Jannero Pargo, according to the Sun-Times. Pargo signed a 10-day contract with the Bulls after Rick Brunson was waived.

anyone who does not think scottie is 1st ballot is ignorant.

always 2nd best player on those bulls teams, but alot of the time not only was he the 2nd best player on the bulls, but the 2nd best player in the nba.

could do it all, and always stacked the box score in all categories.

I am starting to feel really old...I remember Pippen being drafted like it was yesterday...5th pick wasn`t he?

I think he was somewhat overrated too, very versatile but not quite the same without 23 beside him...

Remember the first half of the season when MJ retired , Scottie looked like the 2nd best player in the world, but he didn`t sustain that level of play for long...

Call me ignorant if you wish, but I don't think so, and I was a huge Bulls fan. A lot of players could have been Robin to Jordan's batman. In no way was Pippen ever anywhere near the 2nd best player in the NBA. That's just insanity.

this guy was an amazing 2 way player.

Very few like him.

Top 50 player for sure. Maybe top 25.

He helped make the Bulls unbeatable for years

Interesting question....

I believe he is a lock for 1st ballot election to the HoF.

But I also believe had MJ never been born, or if SP had never played Robin to MJ's Batman, that SP would just have been a good, not a great, HoF calibre player.

But MJ most certainly was born and SP did indeed play with him, so SP is a HoF lock based on his (their) accomplishments.

One of the best players ever as long as Jordan was by his side. Without Jordan, average at best.

I`d take Worthy over Scottie...I`d certainly take Bernard King too over Pippen, imagine if Portland would have taken MJ (instead of Sam Bowie) to play with Clyde Drexler!

Why Portand thought the two couldn`t play side by side....

What an aerial show that would have been!

Game Three of the 1994 Eastern Conference Semifinals. 1.8 seconds left. What does your first ballot HoFer do? Anybody remember?

Flashes of brilliance, but still way overrated in my opinion.

That 1.8 seconds will always haunt him, but in the day he could stop anyone. Bernard King was a heck of a player but he was not near the shut-down defensive player that Pippen was.

The fight reportedly resulted in a man being taken away in an ambulance. Pippen was outside the restaurant, Nobu Malibu, when the incident occurred but had left the scene by the time police arrived.
The man was reportedly seeking an autograph from Pippen. He was taken to hospital with injuries to his head and back, including broken teeth and a swollen mouth.
The 6-foot-8 Pippen, 47, starred for the six-time NBA champion Bulls in the 1990s
