Just finished the book.
A little bit of his life but lots written about
his gambling and sports memoriblia tours.
A bit also of his screwing around on the road
(no matter who his woman was at home)- he even
got caught 2x that he admits t.
The guys an admitted liar so I was left with
not really knowing what to or not believe.

Dropped lots of names in the racetrack industry
Hit p6 dozen times, mentions speed figures/
thorograph/ragozin/bias etc.
Mentioned 1 p6 he was partners on with Carroll
(Turfway Owner) and they had it cashed by another
(not to avoid taxes but publicity)
anyway sounded like this was one of the offenses
that he was jailed for and it seemed he "gave up"
Carroll- it wasnt clear how anyone found out.
Also said the p6 was commonly held in races 4-10
or 3-9 at most racetracks(Of course thats wrong).

Says he got into gambling sports via a friend of
a friend who knew a bookmaker.(no tales of offshores)
Mentions middles and had "friends" place his bets.
Says he never bet against his own team or bet teams
with injuries(or not) that he knew of that was not
public. OK yep why would you do that?
So his "friends" were shaving points on him/following
his picks and or betting against him.
He had 1 bookie who he "sent" check via his "friend"
for 40k but the friend ran off with it and it never got
to the book. I couldnt understand Rose logic here
but somehow he figured he was even with the book.
With another book he had a trigger level of 50k and
owed 40k- the book said settle up now or no bets.
So Pete went 7for9 (which the book didnt take)and
Pete said the book owed him 50k for those wins.

Anyways these 2 "friends" were involved in a number
of other things including drugs and when busted
had asked Pete for help with lawyer$$$ and such
but Pete refused and they rolled over on his gambling
which led investigators to the "cash cow" of autograph
signing/p6s etc that was IRS punishable and the
reason for his 6month vacation.

Pete said he had a gambling problem and attended ga
meetings(no not that book with the bogus ddos claims
and slow pays).
I couldnt see the "problem" the money he bet was small
considering his income and he didnt seem obsessed.
It looked like since he put his baseball at risk over
gambling thus he had a problem,-I guess makes sense
that he had a problem but I wouldnt call it gambling.

So in him wrapping it up it tells of his kid who did
something at school and asked dad what should I do?
Of course son you must tell the truth always.
His son got punished just as hard as if he lied.
So the moral left Pete scratching his head.

Anyone else read it or have comments???
Overall Id give it a B but if person not into gambling
drop it to a D.
