i know it will never happen, but wouldnt that be great

you produce you get a huge contract next year

only 1 year max guarenteed

same team has right to match

if you are top of your position you get paid every year you are at top

there should be a warranty/insurance for career ending injuries

wtf dek mutombo is making 15 mill this year and he sucks but its guarenteened

Nahh, it's mutually beneficial for a team to be able to determine its nucleus for years and to come and for the player to be able to know he has finanical security and something to count on. Plus it would create a lot more turnover and movement and that doesn't benefit anybody or create a higher quality game. Quality goes up and people identify more when players stay longer with the same time. It should be promoted.

Interesting concept, but can you imagine the mad scramble to sign an entire team every off season. Players would still have all the bargaining power, but only for single year contracts. What would an average starting catcher be worth? Who knows where it would end dollar wise.

Performance based contracts should have been the way it all started.

Would NEVER work!

You would be turning the game into even more of an individaul aspect than it allready is becoming.

There are allready performance clauses in many contracts allready.......and they impose certain problems allready.
