Be honest, who was the player you thought was a 'can`t miss' and turned out to be a lemon?

And who was the player you saw that you thought was a future star?

I heard this question on the radio today and there were alot of good answers, it was kind of ammusing....

The Orioles had a guy back in the mid 80`s Mike Young , he looked like and even had the same stance as Eddie Murray, he hit like 28 homers in `85 or`86 (not sure) I just KNEW he was the next big thing lol...Well that was the end of him....Mike Young went on to never come close to 28 again....

I thought Stephen Davis when he was very young at Auburn was a can`t miss player, and he wasn`t highly touted as a top back when he came out...Even Spurrier casted him off lol....He is still proving people wrong..

Gerald Glass (Ole Miss) had several 30+ scoring games during his rookie year with the Twolves. I bought some of his rookie cards. Then he vanished.

Just did a Google search for Glass. During his junior year @ Ole Miss, he averaged:

28 ppg
8.5 rpg
3 spg

Not a bad season, huh?

the real question is, was there a player you thought would flop and went on to kick ass?

I couldn`t believe he was coming out early as he was a very average offensive player in college...and needless to say the NBA didn`t think much of him either....I think the NBA is where you`ll find the most flops...who was the guy from Kentucky a few years ago, he declared himsel eligible than changed his mind and transferred to USC ,lol..he was another one who thought he had game...

Remember Harold Minor lol?

Eric Davis comes to mind first. He looked like he was gonna be one of the greatest players ever his first few years with the Reds. Then he just kept going down hill.

Who could ever forget Tony Mandarich. People were calling the Cowboys fools for drafting Aikman first, that Mandarich was the best OL to come out since Anthony Munoz or John Hannah. Aikman wins 3 Super Bowls, Mandarich falls flat in a couple of years.

Snow and firecrackers have been proven to be a disastrous combination for a couple of players when looking at the long term.

Come on guys, some of these players had at least mediocre careers. What about guys like Brien Taylor? Dunston, Bere, Davis...those guys had some good years between them.
