www.adsgone.com

It's free for a 21 day trial period, after that you are required to purchase it. However, if you are search long and hard, you can get it for free. It's the best ad blocker out there.

If you don't want to pay or search, go here: www.panicware.com and download the pop-up stopper free edition. Works well, but not as good as AdsGone.

Hope this helps.

I think the cure is worse than the disease. You download pop-up blockers and new problems ensue. I am very good at anticipating pop-ups.I cancel them before they even appear.

The simplest and easiest way is to download the google toolbar as stated above and to turn on the pop up blocker. Try this first because it does not come bundled with any extra stuff you don't need. Read the instructions as to how to turn it on and if you are having problems report them Here. If this doesn't work for you for some odd reason try the other recomendations.

Your browser has nothing to do with it..

The problem is you have probably downloaded from a Freeware/shareware hosting site.. when you d/l from them you agree to have the pop ups come to you in the form of advertising..

I would suggest getting Spybot Search and destroy which is a Spyware remover and stay clear of the shareware/freeware sites or hosting oprograms aka Kazza, etc etc..

You could also get Zone Alarm like Dom suggested or Ad-aware, which is a spyware/pop up remover...

PS, most those Pop up stoppers come from the same companies that make the pop up's in the first place!

i did this spyware thing a week ago. HOLY COW it found hundreds of these items on my computer and it searched and destroyed all of them. IT is amazing. Then use the yahoo popup blocker to stop the annoying popups form USA today web site or whatever web site you click on.
