I was doing the math today....
This HORRIBLE gas we get in CR is about 290 colones per liter. 3.6 liters per gallon and 420 colones per dollar.
290*3.6=1044
1044/420=$2.49
Basically, the gas quality is about 1/2 of the quality of the gas in the states and we pay $2.50 a gallon in CR. Amazing.

A quick note on gas, and the inability of people to evaluate what is expensive, what is cheap.
People will pay $2 for 16 ounces of water. And they will smile to do so. They will play $4 for a hyped cup of coffee. More smiles. $1.59 for a coke. No problem.
But if they have to pay $2/ GALLON for gas, they lose their minds.
Water and pepsi costs more than gasoline. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Gas is really, really cheap.
