Has anyone read/bought any of the following books from GBC (a list of a few I'm thinking of buying)?

Fellas, I'm going to be purchasing a book that Fishhead and Mvbski suggested, "Sportsbook Management" by Roxy. I can never just purchase one item at a time from GBC. I always pick up a few titles at a time from them (love reading any sportsbetting literature). Here are a couple titles that I'm thinking of adding to the order. Would like to know if anyone has read either?

"Betting Angles and Money management" by Dave Barr

"Sportsbettors Money Manger" by Charles V. Duggie

Also is anyone familiar with all the Bob McCune books?
I would like to know if or which one of his books, is a must
read for NBA Basketball and Baseball capping. GBC offers three different books of his. I'm looking to find which of his works, has the best sections/chapters on NBA Basketball and Baseball capping? Or any strategies or systems?

Fellas, thanks in advance for any info. Much appreciated.

Can't remember who wrote it, but with baseball season coming up, "Betting on the Bases" would be worth a look as well.

Also, I have purchesed probaly 20 to 25 different
titles from GBC. If there is a book that you've been
debating on, I can gladly offer an opinion, if it's one
I have.

INSIGHTS INTO SPORTS BETTING
by Bob McCune

Twelve chunky sections focus on the needs of the thinking-man sports bettor who is looking for new ideas. Subjects included are: Fundamentals; Sports Services; handicapping Techniques; Oddsmakers and Bookmakers; handicapping football, basketball, baseball and boxing. 295 pages, spiralbound. 1993.

wil.

PS. There is a chapter on NBA totals in this book called "The Deviation Factor" that is very interesting.

Green Doberman, I think that might be Mike Lee's book from around 1981. If it is the Lee book, it is very respected.
Robert Ross wrote a similar titled book for Baseball. I think just about all of the Ross books are a waste of money. But there are some people who do like them.

Kevy-
Not to disrespect Mike Lee, but I would pass on his book.

I would recommend you McCunes book....THE REAL WORLD OF SPORTSBETTING.

Tremendous words of wisdon in that piece of work and some wonderful articles on baseball handicapping.

Wilheim, excellent info my friend. There is such a lack of any reading on NBA Basketball and Baseball. Trace Fields wrote an excellent book on NCAA College Basketball capping. But no one has wrote a great read on NBA Basketball yet. I always ask Mary Ann and Howard at the GBC, to let the capper-authors know that an innovative Baseball or NBA Basketball book would sell.

Fishhead, thanks for the info my friend. I did pass on Mike Lee's book. A couple years ago someone at GBC told me that his book was well respected. And that Robert Ross book was a more updated version of Lee's book. The Robert Ross book was frigging horrible. I had sorta kicked myself for passing on Lee's book for Ross' book. You've made me feel better knowing that I didn't miss out on anything truly great. In fairness to Ross, I think his books are written more for the greenest of green newbies who have just discovered sports betting. But there pitched/sold as must reads for experienced cappers. And that they are not.

Thank you for the info on the McCune book. You and Green Doberman have each given me a different title......I will probaly end up with all of his books.

I have always maintained that in this business the best book is the one we write ourselves...........THE BOOK OF HARD KNOCKS.

Kevy I got around to reading three of his books. One is a paperback on strictly football handicapping and the others were insights in to sports betting and revalations in sports betting. The one only on football was good but not as good as the other ones. You couldn't go wrong getting all of them.In my opinion they are a great read for everyone novice and up you can't help but learn from them. There are no secrets in the books so don't expect that but imo he speaks about the reality of betting sports.

Fishhead, no, but then it's been awhile since I have posted any questions about books/reading material. That or maybe I just spaced the info. Since you knew him. I have a question. I heard that Bob was involved with Pro Wrestling like way back in the day (Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, Verne Gagne era), was this true? Also I read somewhere that he was one of the the most respected NBA cappers. And that he was amazing when it came to NBA Totals in particular.

Bob McCune's books are easily the best. Thing is the versions they sell now are much shorter than before. I suggest all of them, they are good in being theoretical. He gives some specific methods, but you will notice how dated those seem. Best books are ones that stick to the theory of winning, not giving numbers formulas.

One thing about him if you read his stuff, you just have to ignore his constant rants against touts. I mean we mostly agree with him, but I think he does waste a bit of time on that. To tell you the truth I am not sure what updates they made to the newer versions, maybe they took a lot of that out.

Bob has pictures in his books of himself in wrestling form

Nickythefish, thanks for the info. I just love to read anything on the subject of sports capping. I never expect any get rich quick, amazing fool proof systems, ETC, from any of these purchases. Always just looking to absorb as much info and insights as possible. My favorite forum in the RX, is the Handicapping Zone. Always like reading the posts in there for the same reasons. One of my favorite capping reads, was a book of a collection of articles written by Sonny Reizner. Not any systems or even strategies, but more just a book of his sharing different life experiences/lessons.

WildBill, excellent info Sir. I feel like kicking my own ass, for not adding his books to my collection sooner.
