No thanks..I'll pass on a room run by a guy who already ran another poker site into the ground and *probably* lied all the way to the end.

For those who don't know, Dutch ran a website named Pokerspot that had a ton of problems. If you believe 100% of his side of the story you still have to question his ethics. If you believe 50% of what he says then he ran off with a few bucks. At a bare minimum, similar to the books that fail, Pokerspot used player funds to run their site instead of capital or their rake. When the deposits from new players stopped coming (read as post-ups in sports wagering parlance) so did the payouts.

I would stay FAR away.

I also know 2nd hand that a MAJOR TV show looked into booking him as a guest and decided against it once they checked into his background. Apparently, folks IN the industry do not like him very much for what he did to players.

I'm also a victim of this Boyd motherfvcker. He only stole about $250 from me so it's no big deal, but he's still a motherfvcker.

Yeah...don't feel so bad, I heard a story where he took mid five figures from a player...pretty sad. Promised to pay and slow paid maybe a dime or two before sending out the letter/email about closing the company's doors and being scammed by his payment processors.

The worst part of the story is where someone offered to buy the software/brand/other assets and assume the liabilities and he and his boys would not sell since they were not getting anything out of the deal. They would rather stiff the players, ruin their reputation and keep the assets (probably outdated and rotting somewhere) than get players paid and be known as stand up guys. So sad...I never keep more than I'm willing to lose at these places.

Dante - Your thoughts are spot on. Cardrooms generate revenue based on a percentage of the pot(Rake). Per hand, on average, cardrooms keep roughly 5% of the pot. Rake is normally caped at $20 per hand.

The fact of the matter is Dutch owning that site is beside the point. The point here is how does a site making $0 from rake pay for its payment processing fees when its time to pay you? You're playing at a site hoping that the money he stole from those at Poker Spot holds up enough in order to pay Western Union, Neteller and others for accepting and sending money to its players.

Again, STAY AWAY! Lots of other sites to play at. Besides, rake is not all that bad online when you look at the $ you save by not tipping dealers and driving to our local cardroom.

For the convenience and security of playing poker online, PAY THE 5% and know that you're winnings will be sent to you.

My 2 cents
