Feature article on the front page spotlights Grinnell, a Division 3 team, I have been following for some time now.
As you know I went to Loyola Marymount, godfathers of the fast break, and am always a fan of the run-and-gun teams.
Grinnell, follows a hockey-like shift system, continually hoists three-pointers, and has a do-or-die defense system where they will gladly give up a layup in order to keep up the pace of the game.
It is surely not a system for all, but it has brought success to this formerly dormant basketball school in Iowa.
Oh for the days or LMU, Southern U., even UNLV. It seems the run-and-gun is just about dead these days.
