charity golf fund raising ideas

I help run a charity golf tournament with the money being donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. I was wondering if anyone has any unique fundraising ideas. Last year we had 144 people in the event and and was lucky enough to have the event the Thursday that the British Open started. We threw all the participants in a hat and for $10 you drew a player. If your player won you receieve half the pot. The other half going to charity. Unfortunately this year the British Open falls the week prior to our tournament. We are trying to keep it simple (no putting contests or other golf skills competition that prolong the day) If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

I applaud your efforts delmo.

Hope some good ideas come up. You can always use NASCAR somehow. Maybe select the Qualifying times, broken down into 100'ths of a sec. Or something race related on Sunday.

theres always some golf tournament each week. find out where their playing the week after the Open and have the same pool.

Thanks very much General. Not sure the NASCAR thing will work in Canada. Not sure the interest is there for the majority of people.

Mr Smith. Thanks as well. We may end up falling back on that but with the watered down field after the British we were hoping to come up with something a little different.

selling mulligans always helps another thing i have seen at golf tourneys is called a red blaster where if you buy one you can tee off from the womens tees. they sell for more than the mulligans people like them b/c they have a chance of reaching par 5's in 2 and possibly driving par 4's.

of course the scores in the tourney go a lot lower but its for charity so who cares
