Is there any question who is the better fielder? Are the Yankees assuming ARod will grow out of the position (like Ripken did) some day anyway?

Why no questions about this, Shortstop is the most important position on the field, I don`t think this is the last time ARod plays short....Expect Jeter to possibly be moved eventually...either out of the Bronx or over to 3rd....Maybe even 2nd base...

Is there any question ARod is the better fielder?

JMAN-

AROD can make the adjustment to 3B much easier than JETER could.

That being the case, I dont believe it came down to who is the better SS, but rather who could handle 3B easier.

I think you would agree.

maybe j-man but none of that will happen anytime soon. they were lucky enough to get a-rod to say he'll play 3rd no need to press their luck. this is a very touchy thing. jeter has been a leader for that team hes been the voice of the yanks he's the on field glue. why screw that up?

i dont think any slight edge in defense a-rod may have over jeter is enough to warrant tinkering with something like that.

Totally agree with both posts....I am talking somewhere down the road...Once Alex settles into the Bronx, right now its still Jeter`s team...Jeter is not the superstar that Rodriguez is, Jeter is more of a clutch player and great post season player...ARod is the total package, I can see this turning into an ego thing....ALOT is at stake in New York, sooner or later something will go wrong....If the Yanks start out 20-20 somehow (lol) even Torre could be canned....

I also heard today the relationship between the to SS isn`t what it was...Something about an article where ARod talked negatively about Jeter...Rodriguez hasn`t played a game at 3B yet, who knows how he will handle it...

Getting hit in the nuts every couple games could change his opinion real quick!

Jeter should move to 2nd after that nasty dislocation, Arod back to SS, and Enrique can suck at 3rd.

STILL THE BEST OPTION AT SS IN 2012, no doubt...

Jeter hit an inside the park home run to left
