Patriot Act/US Dept of Justice

In view of the recently passed (2003) Patriot Act The US govt is now even more vigilant regarding potential terrorist/money laundering operations than ever.Offshore sportsbooks are one of the many business's the Feds are closely monitoring at this point with the ownership of these "unregulated" operations under extremely intense scrutiny.Operations like Ladbrokes and William Hill are not profiled but I would believe it be safe to assume all "offshore books" are now being closely monitored after 9/11. With companies doing 1,000,000,000. volume the ownership of these organizations now brings a spotlight upon themselves.Closing shop and walking away with tens of millions of $ would certainly raise a red flag and I believe the US Justice Department in conjunction with Interpol and the governments in question(under extreme US pressure) would have no alternative but to extradite any owner(s) of the said companies if the situation warranted it.The feds are quite concerned when large $ amounts are channeled to unknown destinations.These destinations are shortlived question marks and the feds are now ready to freeze any assets worldwide(then ask questions)Some in the know theorize this may keep borderline businesses such as the largest offshore sportsbooks looking over their shoulders. With business good and inflation low few would surmise the large books would even fantasize a closeup any time in the near future. We are factoring in good management and sound business practices among these large companies as a given.The Feds are unwittingly keeping the large books honest.Over the next decade the largest most well run books will swallow the small ones to "self regulate "their own industry. The few books that beat customers for a few million would certainly threaten a worldwide industry that has annual profits of billions. My information is valid and not opinionated and from a myriad of good sources.I would rather leave this information for all to view but choose not to debate or discuss my comments. Fair enough - a word to the wise, though - anything posted which cannot be debated or discussed with the author is very soon ignored and forgotten, despite the author's best intentions.

USA-PATRIOT was passed in 2001, not 2003. You may be referring to Sec. 326 of USA-PATRIOT, which went into effect last October and does have implications for eventual action against books and other gambling operations.

You make some good points, but throwing out a bunch of assertions then declaring the subject closed to discussion is just flame-baiting.

This could be done in this manner. But, I wonder if the Egos would cause the conflict to cease it or never let it get off the ground.
