the average number of players at an average sized book is about average for average sized books... a larger book would have a slightly higher number of average players than an average sized book (of course this is average)

let me know if I can be of further help.

Buddyboy, I beg to differ. According to my calculations an average book would have a slightly higher average of average players.

I suggest we work with the "MEDIAN" here, and not the "AVERAGE".

Sure wish something could be done about the lame attempts at humor above. THis is an intersting question as we all ponder the financial health of specific sportsbooks and the industry in general. Perhaps there's a need for some type of humor forum in which those wishing to be flip could go an congregate while not wasting the time of readers who are sincerely interested in the thread.

Humor certainly has a place when related to the topic, and I must admit I've had plenty of belly laughs reading other posts, but simply writing this juvenile nonsense without adding anything constructive is a big waste of readers time.

hmmm, I thought the original post was a joke.

sorry.

Here is a serious reply:

In order to answer the question the following needs to be defined:

1. what you would consider the size of a medium sized operation?
and
2. what you would consider the size of a large sized operation?

In order to do that we need to know the number of players at the smallest sized book (zero) and the number of players at the largest book (no one knows).

Since every sportsbook on the Internet claims to be the largest this may be hard to calculate.

Also do you consider the handle or the number of players when deciding on the size of a book?

Is a large book considered a book that has over 1000 individuals placing bets on a daily basis? or is that a medium sized book?

I'm sure the marketing departments of any respectible operation would consider this information highly classified and would never consider sharing it.

So any discussion on the subject would be highly speculative and basically a waste of time anyway.

As far as your wish being granted..
"Sure wish something could be done about the lame attempts at humor above" There is something you can do all by yourself without the help of anyone. It's called stop taking yourself so seriously it ain't that damn important.

Before customers started placing bets over the internet, all bets were placed by phone. What percentage a sportsbook has phone vs internet? What is the number of clerks needed per hundred customers or what is the weighted average of both internet and phone in customers per clerk? Then it is a very simple, how many clerks does a sportsbook have? This is different from SB to SB, Intertops is all internet wagers and Delmar is all phone wagers.
Small 10 clerks
Medium 30 clerks
larger 100 clerks
very large 500 clerks
