Can a movie literate person explain to me why I should like the movie Lost in Translation? I absolutely hated it. Its a complete waste of time, effort, money, etc... I usually find myself to have very good taste in movies but for the love of Christ, what is there to like about this movie?

An ignorant slim.

I didn't want to say anything, but I honestly did understand what the big fuss was about either.

I may have found it interesting and equally depressing if I was a middle aged man worrying about middle-age depression (Ken's age/3 + 2).

It wasn't bad, per se, but given the raving reviews I was a bit disappointed.

precisely lander, I mean where exactly is the brilliance in that, its like if you, me and Dante decided to spend the day at the amusement park and took a video camera with us, filming the car ride, lunch, the rides and then the drive back...... Add in a moment of sadness, two moments of vulnerability, a laugh or two and we have an oscar nominated film?

I didnt want to come ac**** as a dumbass disagreeing with almighty Hollywood but I really think this movie plain sucks.

Agree. Purchased this DVD after watching this flick getting all those accolades and awards. What a joke, I almost fell asleep. Suprised the wife was kind of going WTF also, she usually likes these chick movies. I am not the brightest bulb, but thought this was dreadfully slow and the ending had my jaw on the floor. One star.

i agree, this movie is so f'ing overated.
bill murray was really good. he deserved the golden globe. the movie was okay. not great.
not bad. just okay. B-

First of all I thought the acting was flawless. Also, having been to Japan, I thought it captured the culture there very well in a 2 hour film. The tension between the actors kept me very interested thoughout. Not exactly an action film that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but a film that provoked thought.

The only reason this is nominated is because Sophia is a Coppola. I still blame her for phuckin up Godfather III with her horrible acting & her directing is no better. This movie was so bad I literally threw the dvd in the trash. I give the oscar to Sean Penn.
