Steve Yzerman hockey stick used in game at the Gaylord arena a few games back, when the redwings played the Nashville Predators. autographed by Mr. Yzerman by the way..

A 2 year old child at our church has a brain tumor and has been in the childrens hospital in nashville. Celebrities visit the children all the time. I live in a small town and our town has sort of adopted the little child and his family, we are having a benefit auction and dinner valentines night. This is one of the items to be auctioned off, i was thinking of bidding on it.. Like i said, we attend church with the family and have participated in numerous things so far, i own a convenience store and have donated a lot of the drinks for tomorrow night.. Also up for auction, autographed Titan football and Predator stick, but i was interested in the Yzerman stick.. any comments. The childs name is Branden Simms, if anyone wants to mention him in their prayers.. from Fayetteville Tenn.. The doctors are giving him about 2 months.

Sad story.....good that players are getting involved....

First thought that comes to mind is can you get more money raised by selling on the net instead of auction....I'm just guessing this is more of a local auction?

Perhaps offering items up for sale along with a brief description of the benefit it is going towards?

the auction is at the local high school tomorrow night. Im not trying to sell the item, im wondering what to bid on it.. I know its a great cause and that is factored in and we have helped very much along the way.. My wife is making cakes for it, i have donated a lot of the drinks for it, not to mention many donations at our church.. what im wondering is, whats the autograhed game used Yzerman stick worth? I dont have alot of sports memorbilia but im thinking of getting into it for my office..

You asked for a prayer..Here is mine:

I pray that SSI is the winning bidder for the hockey stick. I hope that he realizes he is not buying the stick but in fact he is giving a lending hand to someone in need. Let him see that price is no object. Everyone knows that SSI has helped out in other ways. Let SSI buy the stick for 100 times what it is worth and let him display it in his home till his dieing days to remind him of his kindness...

and if ever SSI needs a little cash in the future I will buy that freaking piece of wood for $20

There is one on ebay right now for $91 it still has 8 hrs of bidding left. Their are 12 bids on it so far so I image it will go up a bit more. That is a sad story and I will include Branden Simms in my prayers.

as for the stick - if it is game used - and signed - i would say it is worth a few $100 - easily.

i say this because espn radio used to have a segment "trash or treasure" the 1st friday of the month on the late night show. people would call in and say what item they had - and get a price for it. i called in saying i had signed, game used bats from players like tim wallach, phil nevin and mark kotsay and ask what they were worth. i was told because they are game used - the price goes way up - and when i was told the price - i was floored - around $500 to $600 - EACH - and these are for less than stars - not 1st ballot HOFers like stevie y. my guess is if it is game used - and signed - EASILY worth $500 - MINIMUM!

best of all - i would venture to guess the entire amount of the winning bid is tax deductable.

SSI,

yzerman is from my home town (Ottawa) he is truly an all time hockey great with more heart & class than any other hockey player I have ever seen...

That stick would be a nice item to own...if you have the means I would certainly request aquiring it...Detroit Fans can be rabid so there may be a great re-sale value for the item, especially when they retire his #.

I have no clue however as to the 'actual' value of the stick however....

Brandon SImms will be in my thoughts...I have lost 2 family members to Cancer myself.....

Having played a high level of Golf I have had numerous opportunities to meet with Mike Weir.

We have seen each other at numerous functions and I have a very special BYU hat signed by Mike back in the day.

If this is legit(as I m sure it is) we could make some arrangements for this little boy to either keep it for himself or sell it for whatever he neeeds the money for.Let me Know.
