Do yourself a BIG favor ...

Go here ... http://www.jacquesimoscafe.com/ and make sure you go to the restaurant. It is located off of S.Carrolton @ Oak Street. The restaurant is a SHOTGUN house, you walk through the kitchen to the dining room, but it is the BEST food in town. Absolutely the best, I promise you.

Hope this helps.

Looks quite interesting!

We also have a reservation already set at Mortons for Friday night, want to do Mike Anderson's too..

Heard some REAL good things about Uglesich Restaurant & Bar.

Mike Anderson's is very good. Make sure you get a seafood entree. Morton's is very good, but I believe you would be bettor off at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse (Bourbon @ Magazine). The sauces are out of this world!

Also, for lunch, go to MOTHER'S, it's located on Poydras Street. Great ham poboy's, great home-style cookin'.

Enjoy!

Have a great time, but please be VERY careful about the French Quarter ... they have some IDIOTS there that can make your trip very unenjoyable.

Hold on to your watch, jewelry and wallet. Don't bring anything on you that you can't afford to lose. Also, be careful of Bourbon Street, especially if you are on the other end of Bourbon. You may get a little more than you asked for.

Keep your wallet in your FRONT pocket, and don't take any wagers from people who want to bet they can spell your last name or where you got your shoes.

Jacquemoes is very good. So is Uglesich....but its in a very scary neighborhood. Get "Paul's Fantasy".

One of the best restaurants in town is Bayona on Dauphine in the Quarter. R + O's in Bucktown for poboys and seafood. For steaks, I recommend the original Ruth's Chris Steak House on Broad St. La Riviera, Tony Angelos and Impastatos are all excellent Italian joints in Metairie where you don't have to worry about the boogeyman and a nice change up from the Quarter.

If you're looking for some adult entertainment, check out The Gold Club. Some of the clubs around Bourbon St are dumps, but The Gold Club is very nice.

Don't fall for the dancing "woman" in the window trick ...

The Gold Club is nice, but Larry Flynt's Hustler Club is better IMO as well as Rick's Cabaret.

DaTrout made some excellent recommendations as well ...

Have fun, be safe, win money and take pictures!

Grill Room @ Windsor Ct(go for upscale lunch), Commander's Palace(try the Sunday Brunch), Bayona(best fusion dishes w/fish), Brigsten's(it's all good!), Maximo's(best Italian in Nawlins,in jazzy digs), Palace Cafe(down home lunches with upscale flavor, big portions, best priced Brennan fare), Peristyle(Emeril protege, continental meets fusion), R & O's(great boiled seafood in dump environs), Shogun( sushi), Cafe Du Monde(coffee & beignets)

Your friend will enjoy sitting in at Harrah's, decent amount of semi-pro talent often found there..he should do well.

If you're a beer drinker, ask for an Abita or Abita Amber(if you drink the dark stuff).

Enjoy!

Brock ..... Cajun used to lived there (actually in Metarie) AND if you are gonna be in the Quarter ... hit Bourbon Street Blues Company --- known as B.B.C. ----- Located at the corner of Bourbon Street & St. Louis Street. Also, make your way to Razzoo ---- located about three spots down from B.B.C. Same company owns both Locations ---- AND B.B.C. has balcony access.
Also, ask the Locals to direct you to the TROPICAL ISLE & get yourself a "Hand Grenade" ------ you will not be disappointed.
DO NOT --- DO NOT --- DO NOT put your wallet in your back pocket. Absolutely leave it in the front.

Excellent advice fellas, i have been to th ebig easy a few times, but this time i wanted to check on stuff i may have missed in the past.

I absolutely have never found a city with better food than this, that alone has me excited, not to mention the fun times on bourbon st now during mardi gras.

We tried out this little joint called "Oceana" on Conti, and the food there was just top drawer! The Seaport on Bourbon is always good too, but of course looking for something new and different is always half the fun.

Thanks one and all!
