Seriously - A bigger goal and no red line make sense to me, at least one or the other. I posted the thread because I thought a few of the "suggestions" were funny. Realistically the NHL does need to do something to goose up goal scoring. I have some old game tapes on VHS from the 70's and the goalies back then at least left some room for the puck to get through. These guys in today's NHL goal creases are practically bullet-proof.

Bases good question. Betting on NHL games has gained popularity little by little since the early 80's. Today hockey is by far the least popular of the team sports betting wise. Naturally football is king, then imo. hoops, baseball, and then hockey. I can remember living back East and locals using split totals. For example Rangers Vs. Bruins the line might be 1-1.5 and the total 5.5-6, If you wanted the favored Bruins you laid a goal and a half, and took a goal with the dog (Rangers) some small time books even attached juice. Same with the totals you had to bet under 5.5 and over 6. Tuff to beat to say the least. Totals of 6 and even 6.5 were common in the 70's and 80's.
