My topic of dicussion today deals with NHL handicapping. The NHL is by far the most lucritive sport when it comes time to betting on sports. From the outside looking in, most of you would ask how one can make money betting on the NHL. More importantly, how can one hit 63% as I have done this year? The biggest mistake people make when handicapping NHL games is that they look at offensive stats as a measure of what will happen in any particular game. NHL handicapping consists of a few different factors that, when taken into account, will instantly increase your winning percentage. The biggest factors are defense stats such as penalty kill, shots on goal against and goaltending. Start looking at these stats and you will soon realize why NHL games are decided in the way that they are. When looking at these stats, you will find that the odds makers can be mistaken some of the time. This allows sharp players like myself to wager huge amounts on underdogs, +200 or more at times, and come out ahead 60% of the time or more. A rule you must follow when handicapping NHL games is value. NEVER take a -.5 favorite, no matter how much the line drops from the money line. If you want to bet on a favorite, take the money line and use the betting system I have listed below. Always bet larger amounts on +.5 dogs, as there is so much value in that pick, especially when the team is at home. When talking about value, I am talking about the odds for each game. My unit system consists of 20 units. The unit size I place on each game has nothing to do with the strength of the game but everything to do with the line on the game. Use a 20 unit betting system, and make sure you never place a bet were you are risking more than 20 units. For example, if we have a -150 favorite we would bet 13 units on this pick because if we lose, we only lose 20 units, never more. On the other side of the coin, my favorite part, is betting on the dogs. If we have a line of +.5 +150, we bet 20 units to win 30. By using this system we never lose more than 20 units on a single bet. Instead, we have the opportunity to win up to 60 units if we were to bet on a +300 game. You also have to know if the bet has value or not. Linesmakers base their lines on a few simple factors like overall record and home and away record. It is no wonder why I have been able to figure out the NHL, as if you look further into the stats, some games are very easy to pick. You must also know that sometimes you need to lay off. Last night (1-11-04) for example, Florida played in Vancouver. Though all the numbers were on Vancouver (penalty kill, shots on goal against and goaltending against), they were not strong at all. Vancouver edged Florida out by a very slim margin in every category. I then looked at the Moneyline of -250. There is no way I am going to lay $250 to win $100, when although the numbers matched my criteria, they were not very strong. If the Canucks were a -130-160, I would have jumped on the line. This shows that it is imperative to be able to know when to bet and when the value is simply not there. You also must know when to take a +.5 or a straight dog. This is all part of the line and how strong the pick is. This is where knowledge and experience come into play, and this is why people buy my selections. Now you should have some idea as to how to be successful when handicapping the NHL.

I erased your website so as to keep your thoughts here in this forum.

The self-promotion of business sites is a no-no in this fourm.

Thanks again.

ps- You may want to make a copy of this for the hockey forum.

YES SIR, the hockey forum is designed just for that sir.

The only thing is you are not allowed to promote a website in that forum either.

The only place you can do that here is in the PROMO forum.
