NOt sure if this should be considered my mistake on the Prop or whether the book should pay me.

Prop was "Team to Record the 1st QB sack"

I bet Carolina figuring they would GET sacked first. Carolina was SACKED first, but the wager is graded as NE being the winner.

When I saw the grading this morning I realized that they must have meant the first DEFENSE to sack a QB.

The thing that must have confused me was this appears to be the only prop that was based on the defensive action, i.e. First interecption, fumble, turnover even though these were NEGATIVE offensive stats, the Offense was still graded as the WINNER if the event occurred (it appears the sack was the only one graded when the DEFENSE occurred).

Any opinions? Haven't contacted the book becuase they have always been fair and maybe the Prop was (would be ) clear to everyone else. In that case it was just my screw-up and I should have clarrified the prop (although they have 16 pages of props and there is no way to clarify all of them).

Thanks for the input.

to me it is clear

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Prop was "Team to Record the 1st QB sack"
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I would take this as the defensive team...otherwise it would say something like "team to be sacked first..."

It has always meant, at any book ever I've seen it and bet it, the first team to make a sack - in this case, NE, not Carolina. Perhaps books should change their language to make it clearer. My favorite pet peeve is yardage, when a book does not state it is either 'net' or 'g-r-o-s-s (unreal, you can't type gr-oss without a hypen??? jesus) but simply 'total' - any bet like that I'm not 100% sure on, I email the book and keep their response if I bet it just in case. Sorry you lost it.

There was a few props I was unclear of aswell...for ex I wanted to bet "first coaches challenge fails" meaning it is not overturned...

but then was unsure what they would do if it was a challenge brought by administration in the last 2 minutes of the 1/2 or game. for this reason I stayed away & it turns out would have been a winner...sighhhhhhh

sorry this happened to you

In my opinion its the books responsibility to spell these out in detail at the bet confirmation stage in order to avoid this shit.

Well if Jazz and Dante both believe the Prop was correctly graded then I will not pursue it with the book (I consider both of you to be very fair, impartial, and hororable arbitors of issues that come up with sportsbooks).

Chalk it up as a lesson learned by me.

Thanks all

The 2 biggest problems with prop bets are 1) that they are often poorly worded and 2) some books provide virtually zero details of the bet in the comfirmation screen, or under pending wagers. SO once you've placed the bet, there is no way to look back and double check that you placed the correct bet.

This problem gets exacerbated around the SB when books who don't ordinarily offer many props, start offering dozen of props. ANd usually just opy another books lines.

Yep, an offense doesn't record sacks. It would be like asking first interception, the winner is not the team who throws it.
