Jordan and Woods have to be at the top of this list.I play golf at a country club in California that both play at alot during the summer. Both the caddies, locker room attendants and valet parkers all tell the same stories, they never tip. These two cheap P****s play blackjack up to 10,000 a hand they should be ashamed of themselves.

Think you are being unfair to MJ.

JERSEY-- I and my friends caddied for MJ many times at SHADOW CREEK in Vegas and MJ was VERY accommadating.

On top of that, he took the time to sign about 50-75 items we personally had broungt in after the previous day he told us to bring in whatever we wanted signed.

I have high praise for MJ!

Maybe he liked the fact we were all gamblers like him.

Tip mon gering, undereducated individuals, whom jobs are created for just for the sole purpose of procuring tips. Ask me why someone would want to sit in a stinky bathroom at the Barbary Coast, for a dollar an hour. Hell, I walked into the bathroom; I can easily grab a paper towel. Now maybe if they wipe my ass for me, that is deserving of a dollar. Next are the immigrant cab drivers that purposely take you out of your way, then bitch and complain that they need a tip. No the fare is $8.20, you get $8.20. The aspect of tipping is a farce, are most people paid or compensated beyond a salary for simply doing a job, no. Tipping was instituted for service above and beyond the call of duty, however all you service people, simply expect a tip just for doing your job, rather than doing it beyond expectations. That is the problem. My solution is to never tip again. I am sorry people, however you accepted a job knowing full well, what the rate of pay is, that goes for servers and bar tenders as well. It is not my job to subsidize your wage, as a result of already purchasing the overpriced product, whether it be a cab, food, or a drink. Tip= something voluntarily given in return for a favor or service, as a recompense or acknowledgment. The key term here is voluntary, however the earliest mention of the term can be found The Afternoon Tea Book" a Book about the history of teatime. T I P= To Insure Promptness which was given before hand to ensure that you had good prompt service; this was the origin of tipping. Not after the fact for mediocre run of the mill service. The usage of the term also goes back to at least the 17th century, and is probably derived from the even earlier (16th Century) use of "tip" to mean a piece of advice. Simply put here is my piece of advice, do not expect a gratuity for your normal job description duties. Wow me, case in point I was talking to a dealer at the Gold Coast, dragon lady they called her, this women did not smile or speak one sentence, however her replacement was actually personable, even though she pounded the table, she went above and beyond the call of the job. Another example is the cocktail server that keeps my drink constantly filled rather than coming by every half hour. Tips need to be earned not expected. The workers of Vegas need to realize that, and as a result, maybe the tourists will be happier and more willing, however no one will partake in the blatant extortion that the service economy expects of the non-tip worker. Also for your information, yes both Burger King and McDonalds in Vegas have audacity to place tip jars at the registers, (Riveria + Mc Donalds next door to Stardust) yes I'm going to tip a worker who begins to take my order in Spanish, then I promptly respond back in Spanish, to speak English. She then begins to display an attitude as a result of my request, is this prompt cheerful service?

As stated in my above posts, I find that hard to imagine.

Again, maybe MJ is just in a better mood when in Vegas.

FISHHEAD...

Are you still at Shadow? How long ago were you there?

Used to go out alot with "Stick" and other of the guys.

There are countless stories from Shadow. I too have heard several stories about "no-tip" Tiger.

One story (I feel sure this one is true) was about Tiger bringing several friends to the Rio course in Vegas. Stayed all day and wore out several caddies and others and tipped like $50 for everyone to share at the end of the day.

Story does that Tiger's dad is one of the most obnoxious pricks you could ever imagine!

Dr. Hockey,

Totally agreed. Most service workers give lousy service but still expect a tip -- and not just a tip, many expect 20% or they act like you robbed them. I had a waitress who never came back to our table 1 time after she brought the order over. We were there for 1 1/2 hours and my drink was empty after 5 minutes and she never came back and asked if we wanted another drink, was everything OK, etc. The place was slow at the time to, she didnt want to work she wanted to talk with the other waitresses, then when we left we left no tip and she saw it and had a shitty look on her face. I am thinking please how can she really expect a tip.

Yes I have also seen many restaurants who write TIP on a cup and place it by the register. I cant believe the McDonalds corporation would allow this if they knew it was going on. That is pitiful.

Packer-

No, I was only there there the first two weeks that Shadow Creek opened.

Was invited there to be a guest caddy for that short time until the REAL caddies were hired.

Was offered to play the course also, which we were one of the first ones privledged to do so.

Nice course.

Unique in that no other holes are visable from the hole you are playing.

Actual sod and flowers imported from Augusta there.

Those first two weeks only MAJOR celebrities and players with HUGE credit lines at MIRAGE properties were allowed to play there......and I do mean HUGE credit lines.

Not sure what the circumstances were on the Grant Hill stiffing but that is very unchacteristic of him. I know a few people who worked at the Palace on different levels and said Grant was very generous. He use to frequent a friend of mines restaraunt and he told me Grant use to be overly generous especially if he was with friends.

Two things...

My understanding on Jordan is that he will only tip at times to impress people around him. Never out of kindness, gratitude, or respect.

And FISHHEAD..

It is also my understnding that the overall quality of the experience at Shadow has gone to sh!t! Crowded most of the time which really lessens the "thrill" of being there.
Back in the day.... 5 or more years ago... you could often play all day and never see ANYONE else on the course. ThaT was of course foolish, but the beancounters at MGM got ahold of things after the merger and more or less turned it into a very high cost muny.

Add this to the list of everything the SUITS have screwed up in Vegas. Pretty much screwed up everything, no?

Speaking of Shadow Creek. I was fortunate enough to play there compliments of Pinnacle SB. On the 17th or 18th hole about a 375 yard slice sat Steve Wynn's house. I nailed it....good. Years later I come to find out that he spent a million $$ to move the hole because he thought no one could hit the house. ...Well I guess I do have a million $$ swing.
