Could some of you guys from LV help me please?

What kind of limits have the books in Vegas sunk to now?

Say you want to play 40 dimes on a baseball side? Is that even possible? Do you have to use 20 to 30 differnet books to get that done?

What about 3 or 4 team parlays? If someone wanted a 3 teamer for 25 dimes how many hotels would it take in Vagas?

i dont think you would find a book that would take that action. they would probably make you fill out 1000 different forms anyways.

Anything $10,000 and over requires you to fill forms out. $9999 at several sports books is the way to go.

I know all about that.

I am trying to get a feel for the upper limits in the books. How hard (inconvenient) would it be to move this sort of action? I am aware of the $9999 stuff.
(Is that more like around $3000 now?)

Packer- It's not worth the time and aggrevation to try and bet sports in Las Vegas and hasn't been for a long time. The places don't want any action over $100. The sports books are there for the casual bettor, the rube tourist and any square that wants to bet their ripoff parlay cards. The sportsbook is just a part of the overall hotel-casino experience just like the coffee shop, buffet or bingo room.

You could get down forty dimes on a baseball game but you'd have to spread nickels and dimes around so it would take a while. Your twenty five dime parlay at one place is a pipe dream. You could get it all down but you would have to keep the parlays at about a nickel at the bigger joints and about two hundred at the smaller books. You'd have to spread it around but you could it all down.

You can't bet chips anymore, just cash. You can't go over ten thousand in a twenty four hour period in any one book and any play over twenty five hundred and they will write down some general information about you such as your description and the play you made. The ten dime limit is a Gaming Control Board idiotic regulation and very easy to get around. You just keep the plays under the radar and bet them at different windows and on different shifts. If you keep the plays under the twenty five hundred, they won't write anything down but they will keep an eye on you so I recommend a bunch of nickel plays and they won't say a thing.

As I said, Las Vegas isn't in the gambling business anymore so stick to offshore betting.

Here is a link to limits in vegas books it is kind of old but will give you an idea of what they will take.

vegas books

Getting 40 dimes down on a baseball game in Vegas will give you gray hair after one day of trying to do so.Also getting a favorable number will be a problem because places like MGM Mirage and Park Place use 20 cent lines. As for your parlay for 25 dimes soccer bob is right forget about it.Trying to get a 3 teamer for 5 dimes will be a problem unless they are all 3.00 favs then maybe they will give it to you.Not worth the aggrevation.

SoccerBob, That sucks about not being able to bet chips anymore. When did they change that? I mean - that was a lot easier - Collect the bet in chips - stockpile them and then when you bet 5 dimes on the game you can bet 1 chip and not count out all the Ben Franklins.

Did the rules on front money change? Can you still sign a marker out of your front money account?

As you can tell, its been 4 or 5 years since I played any serious money in the sportsbooks.

No chips!

I had no idea they had gone to that. What a pissy little rule that is!

Enough reason to shoot Sadam in the nuts right there!

So seriously, they insist on everything in cash now. No chips so they can nose into any business over 2500.

Say I play 2200 to win 2000. I win! Can I then use my ticket (plus 200) to play to win 4000, or do they write up forms for that too?

Bucky- All that counts toward that ten dime limit in a twenty four hour period is money that goes from your hand over the counter to pay for the betting slips written.

Packer- Good question about the winning tickets. When you cash in winning tickets, you can bet off what your return would be. That doesn't count against the daily limit. It's cash you bet through the window that counts toward the ten dime limit.

If I understand correctly you are saying...

We can never bet 5500/5000 and cash the ticket.

If there are no chips anymore.... you would have to make a play with over 500 of that and then with the resulting 9000+ they would just take down some sort of info but no official form?

Used to be when they asked for this info (I think it used to be over 5000) they just wrote down a first name. You could tell them any name and they just wrote it down and did not care.
This if they knew me and liked me.
Did not hurt to buy everyone's lunch now and again!

Packer- If you bet $5500 and win and have $10500 coming back and want the cash, you're fine. Only the $5500 you bet in cash is tracked. When you present that winning ticket and want to rebet the entire $10500, you're fine there if you bet off the winning ticket because you put no cash through the window. It's only cash you wager that is tracked. If you do go over the ten dime limit, you will have to fill out a form which is given by the casino to the IRS for I suppose anything they want to use it for.

Didn't it used to be that anytime 10G or more cash changed hands (in or out) it required an IRS form.

Maybe I am confused, but I thought we always used to use chips in those cases.

Stupid example but...

If someone bet a 3 teamer for 200.
Win 600. Bet back a 3 teamer for 800.
Win 4800. Bet back 5000 (if permitted)
Win 30,000.
You could collect the entire 35,000 in cash with no reporting.
I know that is a far fetched example, but do they track it that way?

Mvb and packer,
Usually the time of day a casino sets for CTR transactions is the end of swing shift and beginning of grave shift. That is their "end of day". Usually 2, 3, or 4 am depending on the casinos. This has little to no effect on sports book transactions since they are not open at that time of day.

Packer, you better find a mover in the burbs, one that has a fleet of runners, or you may miss your departing flight trying to get that action down.

Gene Maday would've taken those plays in a blink, but never spare a dime to repair that damn sliding glass door at all.

Even if you are betting off of tickets it is still logged if you bet more than 10,000.Could be 4000 cash and 6000 off of other tickets. It is called a book wager report that they have to fill out for NGC.

Nicky and mvb- Thanks for correcting me. I don't deal with Las Vegas sportsbooks any longer and don't plan to anytime soon. Too much BS and aggrevation. I will still never figure out why anyone would bother dealing with these morons when all you have to do is turn on your computer.

Packer- When it comes to getting down large bets in Las Vegas and getting around their silly cash reporting regs, it can still be done but it takes a lot of leg work and tons of aggrevation. When I was a runner here for a very large bettor, I used to drive the books crazy because I would get down tons of cash and NEVER filled out one piece of paperwork. I simply would make five nickel bets instead of one for $2500 and I would go to different writers and go on different shifts to avoid the same supervisors. I even knew when the supervisors would go to lunch and I'd pop a few bets in then. The whole key was keeping the amounts low. Cashing the tickets was easy because I would just go when the book was closed so I would go to the main cashier's cage and go to a different clerk each time. I moved loads of money all around.
