It was exactly 49 years ago today that my Dad had $500 to win on a horse named Swaps at Santa Anita Park.

The date was January 19th, 1955.

This was the first race for Swaps as a 3 year-old. The spunky horse went on win to what my Dad said was at least 3 lengths.

Approximently 4 months later on a cloudy afternoon day in Kentucky, good ole SWAPS captured the Kentucky Derby!!!!!!!!!!! NOW........you know the rest of the story.

Good day

Fish! 1955 you say?
Now we know the secret to your success at sportsbetting.
Maybe we should start calling you Fishy Mcfly, because that is the date when The Grey's Sports Almanac was transported back to the past.
Maybe it was you who gave it to your own father, who shared it with you!!!!
Now it all makes sense!!!

Let me guess what your buddy Kyhawk looks like.
Wild eyed, white haired goofball, who drives a Delorean. And keeps saying Great Scott when excited

A little info on a great horse:
Swaps raced to a world-record time of 1:39 flat for 1 1/16 miles when he carried 130 pounds to victory in the Inglewood Handicap at Hollywood Park on June 23, 1956. The 2 3/4-length victory was the second in a five-race win streak for the California-bred. At the end of the year, Swaps was retired with a career record of 19 wins from 25 starts and earnings of $848,900, then fourth on the all-time earnings list.
