You were right all along,

Donovan McNabb blows and people should bow down to Jake Delhomme..

Now who are the idiots who fired Mr. Rush, I hope they didnt have any money on the Eagles tonight!

It isn't McNabb that is overrated. It's their defense who couldn't stop an old lady from crossing the street, recievers who either drop the ball or hand it to the defender, and a nonexistant running game that did them in.

But since McNabb is a black quarterback that racist white amerikkka doesn't like seeing he gets all the blame.

So a bad performance by Mcnabb justifies those racist comments? You should be ashamed of your sorry ass.

Rush did not get fired for saying that he's overrated. He got fired for saying that he's overrated because he's black. Has anyone ever said that, say, Kerry Collins is overrated because he's white?

No but, pre-Rush and possibly even now, if Deion Sanders had said Jason Sehorn was an overrated corner because he was white (back when he played corner), everyone on the set would have just laughed and nothing would have happened.

Rush was saying the media was propping up McNabb as a superstar QB because they wanted to see a black QB do well...kind of like the media talking up Anika or Michelle Wei when they go play golf on the man's circut.

WAS MCNABB THE ONLY EAGLES PLAYER ON THE FIELD?

And of course the Panthers' defense had nothing to do with it either. Nothing but a bunch of racists who were waiting for the Eagles to have a bad game so they can say "see I told you Rush was right".

Yes, their D could not stop the run, the receivers are horrible ....and yes ......Mcnabb is not in the top 5-6 QB's in the league .....good --yes ....not great....period. I am sick and tired of seeing crap about this .....black, white, mobile, not mobile ....whatever. Forget the sorry ass receivers he has and the dropped balls, he cannot make accurate throws on a consistent basis. ......With saying all that ...he can lead a team with better players than he has right now ...to the Superbowl. They need to upgrade the talent and then, the "good" QB can lead the team further in the playoffs.

Rush Limbaugh said nothing racist. Listen to what he said. He accused the media of being racist in favor of a black QB. Words mean things. Listen to what he said.

Redneckman is correct...and for anyone who actually listened to the entire conversation you can hear that famous white guy Michael Irvin say "Rush does have a point."

It wasn't merely the words themselves but the history of the man who spoke them which must be examined. Rush is a vulgar racist and he knew that he couldn't say what he really wanted to on espn so he used code language that he knew would be understood by his brainwashed followers.

He is overrated, but that's not his fault. I don't care if he's green, he is not a top quarterback. Better than average.

The first sentence here really sums it up, as far as the Rush detractors are concerned. It's not what he actually said that matters! (Then comes the obligatory name calling and tired old accusations.)

Donovan McNabb is and has been overrated. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he the highest paid player in the NFL? Is he the best? No. Is he even the best quarterback? No. Am I being racist for saying this?

Rush was right, but since he dared speak of the taboo of black athletes, he got run out of the business. It's a sad reflection on sports journalism.

I have agreed that McNabb is somewhat overrated. But I won't say that he's so because of his race. How come no one ever says that a quarterback is overrated BECAUSE HE IS WHITE? Never.

And yes, Rush's history of racist and ignorant statements does go a long way in deciphering his intent when he made that statement.

What if I said something like "Jay Fiedler is overrated because the media loves Jews"? I'd be fukking crucified and I'd deserve it.

Banned, it's because no quarterback is overrated BECAUSE HE IS WHITE. Quarterbacks are overrated for numerous reasons, but not their whiteness.

However someone raised the interesting example of Jason Sehorn earlier. I believe he and pretty much every white boxer that comes along are/were overrated because of their whiteness.

You'll notice that in all of these examples, the one getting overrated is defying the dominant stereotype in their profession. I believe it is in the media's nature to do this and that's why, although I'm no Rush fan by a longshot I don't think there was a thing wrong with his particular quote on ESPN.

You want someone who wasn't overrated despite defying the stereotype in their profession? Look no further than Grant Fuhr.

Then how can you assume that the reason that McNabb is "overrated" is because he's black? Could there be other reasons for it?

Certainly there could be. However in this instance I don't believe that is the case but I could be wrong.

What I am certain of is that post-Rush, no white media personality will dare criticize his game for fear of being labelled racist and canned from their job. That is what pisses me off. This is sports - no-one should be immune from criticism for bad performance.
