I have thought about this before, however, it really hit me today. Have any of you taken the time to look at the views next to any new topics? I have recently, and it really paints a pathetic picture of human beings and human nature. Think about the fact that whenever someone starts a topic with something nice to say or some valuable insight that might actually put money in someone's pockets, the views are 20% of what you see when someone here starts a false rumor or an outright lie about someone or another book.
I have to believe that this is a reflection of our overall society and how much we have been taught to hate. Think about it, whenever someone starts a thread that someone or some book is going under, all of the views come out like a bad case of herpes. I was raised to focus on the positive. I try to only read positive and informative threads, and avoid all of the negative stuff. It is pretty sad that I am such a minority here. I guess these forums are no different than the people who read the Inquirer only interested in the bad things that are happening to their fellow man. For me, I will remain content to be among the minority who actually finds some enjoyment in the sharing of useful information in the hopes of picking a few winners. For all others, may you continue to thrive on the posts of Truthteller, etc. etc. to get your rocks off.

Good post TEASER GURU.

I have a slight problem understanding some of the personas as well & like to focus on the positive.

Good luck

TG - Very good post. Unfortunately true, "The Inquirer Syndrome". The nature of the beast is to be more attracted to grief and misfortune, than to such mundane things like the value of a half point in college basketball.

wil.

Well, some people need to put every one else down in order to build themselves up.
If that makes you feel better about yourself, Teaser, then good for you. Seems as though you rpost falls right into what you describe.

The word is deluded. When you criticize someone you should be sure to check your spelling as it makes you lose a lot of credibility.

Why does checking your spelling make you lose a lot of credibility?

Point well taken, and i must agree that your posts have gotten a lot better. You seem a lot more balanced, and that is very nice to see. All I am looking for is more objectivity and balance here. By displaying that you become a real asset.

Lander, I was being nice. I said he made a spelling error. He wasn't even close. Diluted is what happens to liquid. Deluded is what happens to me after too much partying. My point is that when you are attacking someone, i was always taught that you should at least be in the ballpark with your spelling or you may seem ignorant, which will not help your cause. Aren't we arguing over micenuts anyway. I agree that spelling means zero here. if you post a lot, you are bound to make a ton of spelling errors. However, if I am going to attack someone, that may be a time when i would like to check my grammar and spelling although mine basically suck.

TG is right. We should all try to focus on the good things in life over the negative.

Human nature is so complex. I find refuge from all the negativity in the world by going to church, and helping those less fortunate every now and then. They say children are like a WHITE CANVAS, and parents the ARTISTS. Our example is KEY in creating a better tomorrow for society.
