An individual needs to have as many OUTS as he or she can possibly manage and handle financially.

How many is considered adaquate??

For your average better, this would be in the neighborhood of 3-5 books MINIMAM. Anything less than three and your chances of winning in this business are greatly reduced.

It is not uncommon for trully successful sportsbettors to have upwards of 10, 20, and sometimes 30 or more active accounts!!

I would STRONGLY suggest you find yourself a minimam of FOUR good quality books that you feel confortable with.

DO NOT SHORTCHANGE YOURSELF!!

in my opinion 2 or 3 is enough, there is no way in hell there is 10+ financially safe books out there and everybody wants to get paid....i got oly, pinny and am looking for only one more who differs from these 2 and puts up original lines.

There's loads of safe outs back in the UK.

However, the need for outs is more about getting enough on.

Successful bettors are cut down to ridiculously small levels that sometimes it takes 5 outs to get a $400 bet on especially for horse racing.

i have about 20 but use most of them very rarely. The exchange system ie: Betfair has really helped me out in this capacity.

Yes, they can sometimes count as 2.5 outs by themselves.

When I was in college, 19 out of 20 college kids stiffed their local books. they either had to call mommy or daddy, or had their dorm room ransacked.

no sense in having multiple outs if they all deal the same lines..........

make sure you get significant line variance at each out.........

Here's a different reason for having more outs: the one offshore book that I deal with is obviously under some sort of DOS attack this evening. The hours of capping I did this aft are all going down the drain, as I am missing out on making wager after wager.

Thus i will be looking for another out RIGHT NOW!

I currently have 12 carefully picked outs which seem to be doing well for me now.

Perfect example of this need is the fact that rio was down today. Had I not had many other good outs, i would have been irritated.

I generally go with 8-10 books, but during the NFL playoffs I cut back to a minumum ...

I'm down to 7 right now, but plan to have 5 books come superbowl time - Pin, Oly, Holly & TBD
