IF A SPORTS BOOK MADE A 10K ERROR IN YOUR FAVOR, WOULD YOU TELL THEM?

Please be honest here...

I am in shock over the results so far...

With 5 votes tabulated, Lander is the ONLY person who voted that he wouldn't tell them!

I've reported 2100 in error to Canbet. And I always report bad lines.

But I'll be honest once I didn't report a nickel error once with this one slow paying non-RX book. I considered it interest.

perhaps we should have a poll on whether anyone would lie on a poll

I would tell the book. I would not sleep good if I did not.

those who are 'honest' are more likely to come forward & admit that they would tell the book. Those who are 'dishonest' are unlikely to post or admit that they would try to keep their mouth shut.

i suspect that many of those who claim they would tell the book would be faced with a very difficult decision, especially if they are like the majority of sports gamblers who lose money...

Exactly.

Currently 80% claim that they would tell, in reality I doubt 5 % would actually tell.

People always severly overestimate their own moral character. It is like if there was a poll that asked " If you lost $50 on an internet wager at the rx and knew you could get away with not paying would you pay anyway ? ". At least 95 % would say they would still pay. Facts have shown otherwise.

I truly believe that the 4 people who have voted that they wouldnt tell, would in reality be quicker to admit the error then the 14 who say they would tell.

It matters what book it is I have given back 5d and once MUCH MUCH MORE to cascade,Rio,Grande and Cbs. But if is a book that fvcks with me in any way they better be on the look out.

With the sportsbooks all using the same lines now it is harder then ever to make some bread. This is why guys like Revere14 come up with new ways to beat the books. I am sure he would give the money back if there was an error in his favor

10 dimes, 100 dimes, $10.43, it doesn't matter to me. Maybe it's the way I was raised, DannyMay, but I would tell them EVERY time. That money is just not mine to do with whatever I please. It
BELONGS to someone else and if mistakingly given to me, to keep is the same as stealing, which I, as many others here, I believe, do not do.
Good luck for the rest of time.

You have to tell. It will come back to haunt you if you don't.

I would wait two months. If, after two months the money were still there, I would withdraw it and close the account. Heh,heh, heh. Actually, I wouldn't do that. I could wind up on some list of crooked players, and I could be possibly blacklisted by the books, and then be unable to bet.

Ok, maybe 6 %. It sure isnt anywhere near the 80 % that the poll had while back.

The percent of people who would truly pay is 15 % at the absolute most. No way in the world it is any higher than that. People just need to feel that they are great, moral people so they convince themselves that they would always do the right thing. When the situation actually presents itself, we learn that talk is cheap.

I think the REAL TEST of integrity would be if the money was ALREADY IN YOUR POSESSION, and it is discovered that there was a mistake in the balances, etc. IF you returned the money then, this would truly prove to everyone how stand up you really are.

Finding an extra 10 dimes in your account balance is quite different than finding a brown paper bag in the street with 10 thousand in it and nothing else. First thing with a sports book is how much you play for, if you are a small player than naturally it has to be a book keeping error. With a player who bets 5 even 10 dimes or more per play, it could possibly be the players error. In that case I would check all my recent plays, and see if I may have entered a bet wrong. A bet that I thought lost but turned out to be a winner. In this case the money is mine, because I would not get the money back if my incorrect bet lost. When I was satisfied that i did not win the money by accident, I would have to notify the book. Sooner or later that 10 thousand is going to be missed and traced. Like Tico said, the real test is if you have already withdrew, or even worse, lost the money when the mistake is discovered.
