Fast food shockers

By SUN ONLINE REPORTER

YOU wouldn't expect diet advice when you stop at a drive-in fast food joint.

But that's exactly what surprised punters in Detroit got when they pulled up at a burger counter.

Hungry drivers were told they were "too fat" for the food they ordered and told to leave.

Police suspect that pranksters have hacked in to the wireless frequency of the local drive-in Burger King to wreak havoc by insulting customers who order their food through the speaker.

Policeman Gerry Scherlink said hackers told one customer who had just placed an order: "You don't need a couple of Whoppers. You are too fat. Pull ahead."

Cops believe the culprits are watching and broadcasting from close range.

Scherlinck said the men are telling customers who order a Coca-Cola: "We don't have Coke." And when the customer asks what they do have, the hacker says: " We don't have anything. Pull ahead."

Restaurant managers are most concerned about the language used by the culprits.

Burger King franchise owner Tony Versace issued a statement saying: "We apologize to our customers who've been insulted by the use of this drive-through speaker."

Police are appealing for information to track down the hackers - who could face three months in jail if convicted.
