2. Broncos will be in the superbowl, fact not a question.
3. What is the requirement to be a Big West official? They handed UCI there 2nd straight win.

1. Sorry - no can say
2. as much as i would love to say "fact" - it is "fiction" for even if they beat the colts sunday - it is then a short turnaround to play @ foxboro saturday night - and that is where the season ends.
3. sunday's i ref njb games in irvine. occasionally i have games @ univ hs (culver/405). one of the coaches for his son's team is rob halvakis - basically the #2 man in the big worst. i lost track of the number of times i bitch about how pathetic the BW refs are. i had to stop because it only made me madder and madder. the other day we host LMU. mike scyphers made - as is usually the case - a terrible call. one of our fans ragged his ass the next time down the court and during a dead ball. for one of the few times ever, the ref turned and paid attention to the fan who kept yelling at the ref. at the next dead ball, the building ops manager guy talked to the fan who chewed out the ref. he said the ref said he was using profanity. i sat RIGHT BEHIND this fan and he NEVER used profanity at all. he was there with his wife and 2 kids. yet this ref wanted to start something with lies.

people - for those who saw how pathetic the ACC refs were in the FSU/Fla game as well as a few other bowl games - just realize those refs are INFINITE times better then the zebras who do big west games - as rail and i can attest to. the big worst refs are EASILY the worst refs of ANY conference - and it's not even close.

i just saw who the irvine refs were: Fred Carbone, Jim Stupin, Marc Terrazas.

seeing that - it is NO shock what happened. carbone is incompetent - and stupin is worse than that. EVERY GAME jim stupid (as i call him) calls it upon himself to make a few calls that make everyone in the building wonder if stupin has his head up his ass - or is just plain incompetent. stupid has been reffing forever - and because of that - carries a MONSTER ego. he is of the belief people attend the game to see HIM - not the teams. sound crazy - maybe so - but rail can back me up ont his one. stupin feels because he has been at it so long he sees things that happen on the court that others aren't "capable" of seeing - when in reality - stupid just makes things up. a few years back - i attended a fullerton @ irvine game. some kid for irvine was trapped - so he tossed a pass to a teammate. the pass sailed 30 feet over his head. EVERYONE saw it this way and the players headed to the other end of the court. that is until stupin ran in and ruled the fullerton guy deflected the ball - and gave (gave the optimum word) irvine the ball. i spoke to the fullerton guy 2 days later and asked him if he touched the ball - and the look he gave me said it all.

to answer your ?? rail - i don't know what the requirement is to be a big west ref - but i know 20/20 eyesight and a brain are 2 things that will KEEP you from being a BW ref. don't complain too much, rail - we had terry tackett at our game. at least his son - who sucks more than his dad (and that is saying something) wasn't teaming with him. that happened to us 1 time before - and the result was the worstreffed game i have ever seen in my life!

Winky its getting to the point where I cant handicap these Big West games anymore because of the officiating. The old guy at the UCI game was calling fouls before they were committed tonight, the fouls were 32-17 in UCI favor and should have been the other way around.

100% agree - the refs sucking so bad makes trying to cap a game impossible - because you can be 100% correct in what you have done - and the refs will somehow find a way to make a few calls that will turn the game around.

and that old guy (grayish hair - and somwhat of a pot belly?) probably was stupin

and for people who think we are being paranoid - NO! the BW refs truly are that bad!

Never seen a Big West game in the format the conference it is in now, but I have a suggestion. Stop betting against Irvine, and factor in they will be getting a couple extra points at home next time.

WRONG! irvine is like santa barbara in one regard. when laying 2B digits - take the other side. the way both play - laying 2Bs is a bad thing - for they tend to keep games close. also - with irvine - betting on them is impossible - because they play 1 good half and 1 bad half - and you never know which half it will be in which game. the 1st half they could outscore someone by 20 - and then win the game by 4. also - they can be down 15 at half and make it a 2 point game - either way.

irvine has to be one of the scizoid teams in all of college hoops.

Funny, next thing you know Rail will be telling us about the bad line judges at the WTA tourney in Bangladesh or something

I have seen a couple games at that joke of a stadium in Irvine, most high school stadiums have more energy half full than that place. If you have a cell phone conversation, at least half the crowd hears it. If a guy was chewing out the ref, I am sure most of the crowd heard it. One time I was down there and some girl yelled out at the student assistant: "Hey honey, I will call you tomorrow morning" and the poor kid was blushing the rest of the game. The girl didn't even realize it, she was heading out of the stadium with the score 59-57 with about 3 minutes to go. Take an atmosphere like that and expect professional level refs? Please!

Good story Bill, I catch about 10 games a year at the Bren Center, it is a great facility, unfortunaltly the crowds are getting bigger at UCI, the attendance last night was about 2500, and about 2000 of those were walkup sales. CalPoly has a decent size alumni in Orange County, game time was at 7:00 and all 2000 people showed up at 6:45, the ticket salers were on winter vacation and there was only 1 ticket window open, the line was an hour long, most people didnt get in until halftime.

Come on Rail, people in OC are horrible fans. Most of the crowd probably couldn't name 3 players on the court even after the game was over. I have never seen a worse atmosphere than that place. Fullerton used to be a fun place to go to a game even though the stadium there is lousy for Div I hoops, the only place where people seemed to care about hoops, but that was years ago. They now are almost as bad as UCI. The whole Big West in CA is full of places where fans don't really seem to care much, occasionally Santa Barbara gets an energetic crowd if they are on TV. Is it any wonder this conference always puts out lousy one and out teams in the tournament when other conferences at their level at least occasionally get a team that wins a game?

Bill,

I dont like crowds so Big West is perfect for me. I dont like loud kids, I would be misrable at Cameron. Being in the ticket buisness I basically have a free ticket to Staples Center anytime I want, but I prefer the 6 dollar UCI ticket to the 125dollar Laker ticket anyday.

BigWest is full of excellent coaches, and they do very well ATS in the postseason.

Inside Info? OH PLEASE!

Sorry if I offend anyone, but the Packers were winning by 7 and covering my 6.5 with 2:30 left.

I don't believe "Inside Info" had any relevance on the out come of this game.
