How can a team like the DENVER BRONCOS play so well against the Colts TWO weeks ago, then look so awful on Sunday?

When I watched Denver beat the Colts back then, I thought to myself, "there is no team in the NFL that could have beaten Denver that day, no one..."

Now Sunday comes along and I don't think there is a single team that these same Broncos would have beaten, including the Raiders!

Seems on any given day in the NFL, any team can beat another.

In this situation.

Week 16 P. Manning 12/23 146 & 3 fumbles, Denver was able to move ball, keeping Peyton off the field. Colts had 183 total yards.

Sunday P. Manning 22/26 377 5 TD's. Colts had almost 500 total yards.

NFL teams smell blood and put teams away..

College teams do not know how, for the most part to put a team down. What I mean here is like a snowball rolling down hill the Colts got stronger and stronger and the Bronco's could not avoid the KILL SHOT! NO MERCY in the playoffs as the Colts found out last season in New York...

In this particular instance, the Colts had a game plan two weeks earlier that they felt was solid but were unable to execute particularly offensively. Manning had indicated that two weeks ago when he would audible, the Denver defense would back out and quickly change their defense thereby impacting his audible. In this game, Manning controlled the game by changing little and the Colts directly attacked the Denver defense. This is what caused the quick separation because the Denver defensive game plan was the same as two weeks ago and were ill prepared to adjust. Once that occured, the deflated Broncos really were left one dimensional as they were too far behind to run and their passing game was under pressure. Put that well thought out plan together with the Colt intensity to win a playoff game plus the respect that had for the Broncos due to the previous loss kept their focus continuous. This is the very similar reason why many of the previous year's Superbowls ended up in routes. Denver wasn't as bad as they looked yesterday and Indianapolis is not as good as they looked. The game plan and execution made it look that way. For us, this is where we have to be careful as this is what either gives us, or takes from us, line value for next weeks game involving Indianapolis.
