San Pedro Island. Gotta see. white sand beaches. Golf carts to drive around and nothing but beautiful sea. Normally i am not one that brings "sand to the beach" but if your looking to hook up, better bring someone along.

You are along the waterfront, one of the fewer nice places in Belize City. You walk two blocks away and you are in the hood, so watch out at night...don't go more than two blocks opposite the water.

if you are going for vay-k, you are wasting your time in Belize City, go to Cayo and San Pedro, or Caye Caulker. There is an island/golf course/resort on the way out to San Pedro..owned by a guy from KY...that's a nice place.

If you are going for business, rent a car and stay at Doc's Hotel about 5 miles from the airport, and 2 miles from where the offices are.

Taxi from the airport to Belize City will be $40, so be prepared.

off the top of my head.

Princess's blackjack has 1 5 dollar table, and 3 or 4 10 dollar tables. Limits are 500 and 1000. 5 dollar table is usually full. Games are not playable, but if you are patient, drinks come regularly, you may be able to play for free. No auto shufflers, Cut card is set at around 70 percent on 5 to 6 decks. Dealer deals an up card and no hole card. No check for bj, you can lose doubles and splits to her bj. She deals to 17 and will not hit a soft-17. You can double on any 2 cards, and double after the split. Aces get a single card as usual. Insurance is offered, but no surrender. Dealers are changed after 20 to 30 minutes. There is always one knowledgeble boss in the pit, along with the dealer and a more attentive senior dealer watching over. Never heard of any problems for counters, but Im sure the pitboss would notice if you had great variations in your bets. You can easily play small while watching and have your wife/friend come up and play big on your signal.

Remember to bring your passport as you will have to check-in the first time when entering, they'll log who you are, and take a quick digital pic. After that, you can enter again without ID and just your name.

About timing, if you enjoy a little show entertainment, schedule to be in the seats at the 'blue hole' bar area of the casino by 10:15pm. Each night at 10:30 sharp, they have a 30 minute show of Russian dancers. About 10 of them, mostly beauties, put on a very original and creative dance routine. Its almost always a great show, and you are seated right at the stage.

If you are around at midnight, there is always a good free buffet, but you'll have to wait in line.

You'll also be given raffle tickets while playing, they have drawings throughout the night where you can win small prizes, between $50 and $500.

Other table games are roulette (single zero, regular payoffs), princess poker (similar to caribbean stud without progressive bonus payoffs). They have a poker room with mostly hold-em, bring at least 500 there. All table games are US dollar, while slots are based on belize currency at exactly 2bzd=1usd. Many nickel slots, mostly quarters, a few dollar slots. Video poker is also available with a few niche games (a strange roullette wheel Ive never seen anyone play) and a big virtual horse racing track which brings some loud and colorful characters for 25c.

A funny side note: They won't secure your sidearm when you come in anymore. They used to but some drunk accidently fired off a round in the lobby when leaving (nobody hurt), and their policy now is 'leave it in the car' (so some spin-head can break in and steal it.)

To get to Placencia from Belize City is an 8 hour drive. I think you can fly from the small airport in Belize city, less than a mile from Princess.

Ghost, not quite 8 hours, unless you hit every sight seeing spot along the way. Belize to Belmopan is done in an hour, another hour and a half and you are in Dangriga, Keep on going, on good roads the whole time till you get onto the dirt road off the southern highway. Then another 45 minutes. 4 and a half hours tops if you are driving safely without stops except for fuel. Mayan Mountains Blue Hole is a nice 30 minute stop along the way. Fuel up in Belize City, then again just before the southern hwy turnoff approaching Dangriga. Better yet, do as Ghost says, and take a short plane trip from the Belize City air strip. Everything in Placencia will be barefoot walking distance or 2.50 cab ride if you cannot stagger.

Placencia is gorgious, Robert's Grove is a very nice, yet expensive 4star (maybe 5star) but you can find other small b-n-b's for half the price.

P.S. Gringo's with dollar signs stamped on your foreheads, beware! Safest assumption is that all prices are in belize dollar. Your first reaction should be to chuckle at whatever 'quote' you hear and then step away to shop your prices.
