The Packers are the best team in the NFL right now.

Been saying it for 6 weeks.

Not making excuses for them, but all but one of their losses during the season occurred when they had MAJOR injuries.

For example, the Lions on Thanksgiving. Having no Barnett and Sharper in the line-up is a HUGE HUGE HUGE disability to their defense since these are in my mind their top two most important defensive players.

But, even now having stated that they are the best team in the NFL NOW, which I trully believe(maybe NE), the Pack will have a very very tough road to hoe in the playoffs and not sure they can pull it off.

First Seattle will be no pushover in the first round, since the Pack allready defeated them once this season and it is tough to beat a GOOD team twice in the same season. Then asking the Pack to win possibly back-to-back ROAD games at Philly and St. Louis is asking way to much I think.

But the Packers put themselves in this spot and even with the injuries, the Pack and myself cannot use that as excuses.

I think GREAT teams overcome injuries, and I dont regard the current Packer squad as being GREAT. However, when healthy, think they are AS GOOD as any team in the NFL.

Sorry for rambling and sorry for being a homer.

ps- Thought the Red Sox were the best team too this year and they proved me wrong.

Thought IOWA would be USC in the Orange Bowl last year too.......EL WRONGO!

So having said that, do not take more comments to seriously.

pss- HOWEVER, I am right on occassion too, once in awhile.

Darren Sharper, quite frankly, may be the best overall defensive player in the NFC.

Packers are the best team in the NFL??? Patriots anyone. 12 straight, 3 shutouts in their last 4 home games. Not too shabby.

Patriots will be tough to beat at home.

3 of the last 4 home games, they hung a donut on their opponent.

I agree Fish. The Packers have a real strong shot of reaching the Super Bowl. They are healthy and playing at a high level. The defense has become respectable thanks to Grady Jackson. Favre is on a mission, and the team is following him.

They can definintely defeat the Eagles on the road. The problem I see, though, is beating the Rams in the dome.

EXACTLY!!

This is something that so many players do not realize.

For the most part, future bets are sucker bets.

I said most, not all.

I can not bet on the Pack. There is always the interception factor with Favre and Green puts the ball on the ground alot. Turnovers are so important in the outcomes of games. Predicting whether or not either will do that is impossible.

The thing on that SI cover that caught my eye was in the lower-left-hand corner: "The Best SPORTS BOOKS of 2003"...

...but for some reason I don't think it has anything to do with Vegas or offshore "sports books"
