It all depends on what you wanna see. If you're a poker player, then Rounders. If you like horses, there's a good horse racing movie that strictly focuses on horse racing, so you might like that one more.. I think it's called Let it Ride.. I hate horse racing, so that movie would not interest me. That is why when you ask someone what their fav gambling movie is, you will get different answers from each because of different taste..

However... if you want the best sports gambling movie, look no further than THE GAMBLER.. Man, was this a great movie!! We all have been James Caan once in our lives if we bet sports. The way he loses that game at the end listening to it in the bathtub, and having to owe bookies money and having to look for money to pay it.PRICELESS!! This movie is great..

It has to be everyone's favorite that is a sports gambler because this is the only sports gambling related movie ever made. This is what I don't understand. There has been over 1 million movies made on this planet probably, and why is this the only sports gambling related movie ever made where they really get into sports gambling, bookies, collectors wanting their money, hearing the bettor actually putting in his bet on the phone and asking for a line, and saying, give me so and so for 3 dimes. I mean, this is priceless, and it's too bad this is the only movie like this ever made. There should be more than just one now that there are a lot of gamblers worldwide and more people will wanna see stuff like this.. Really hard to believe this is the only movie like this ever.. That's why every sports gambler will always call this their favorite movie of all time because there is no other ones ever made like it.

I've always felt that Oliver Stone should've made a pro-grambler/sportsbook movie ala the simultaneous "Wall Street" scenes when the shot went four-ways with the different exact-time trading.

Ex: show LV Sportsbooks getting hit 5 minutes to post at 1 EST on Sunday NFL with runners, guys in LV offices or in the burbs, mob guys in NYC moving, little offices across America, individual player from college guys all the way up thru whale doctors and pros playing at home..and of course the Offshore offices with cubicles-a-buzzing and their managers sweating the monster-moves.

Scorcese or Stone would best be suited for this film.

P.S. Honeymoon In Vegas was a gambling flick, he wagered a date with his fiance..gotta love Tark sitting in!

Clooney is definitely brainy enough to sell it to the audience, but I think this character should be of ethnicity, and sort of Eastern seaboardish like Turturro(Cage a Left coaster), possibly a bit R.I.C.O. act-ish looking(Gandolfini?)?

Can't wait for Stu Ungar flick!

THE RUNNER with john goodman, good sports gambling movie. Double down is very good too, wannabees is a movie about small time bookies too. . AS FAR AS a gambling movie (craps) is concerned i like the big town with matt dillon. The croupier is OK too.

The Runner had a a decent starting premise, but it's authenticity didn't sell well with me, Goodman was a poor choice, and the ending,etc..flamed out.

Hard Eight was the better of these two mediocre gambling-related flicks.
