Brother wants to make a rather large wager on the 5 pm bowl game. I'll take care of things, I tell him. Call Grande, request a name to send funds through western union....given a name, then I call back exactly 10 minutes later with a control number, ect....NOW I'm informed that Grande isn't handling western union requests today. WHAT???? THEN WHY WAS I GIVEN A NAME 10 MINUTES AGO???? WHY WASN'T I TOLD I COULDN'T SEND FUNDS WHEN I CALLED THE FIRST TIME???... Now i am totally screwed, as is another individual who trusted that I would take care of business with a "reputable" book. Grande gets a lot of good feedback on here, which is why I signed up with them, but this is the second time they've given me reason to believe they are a VERY VERY unreliable outfit!!!!!

I think he made it clear why he waited. He was looking to take care of someone else's wager and thought Grande could accommodate.
I would recommend writing an email to management so they can have the opportunity to redeem themselves and make sure it doesn't happen again.

back at ya. But you are correct, Grande obviously doesn't give a crap about their clients (at least in this case), and that was the purpose for my posting.
A simple "we can't handle western union deposits today" would have ended the issue. Could have posted at another book. Why give me WU deposit instructions and have me send funds if they can't be picked up??? Would have felt a lot better had the game turned out differently, but oh well, live and learn.

It really does'nt matter how much, or what time, or even what day it is. When you call or e-mail a book, and ask for the Western Union recievers name for the day, and they furnish you a name, they obviously are saying it is OK to send funds Western Union, period. Classic case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Probably Western Union operation closed because of holiday, but someone in CSD. forgot or never knew. Now Chief has to hassle with Western Union to have the transfer cancelled and get his money back, not to mention not being able to bet. Sorry Grande, but not exactly good customer service.

Some clerks at these shops give you names to send Western Union and then you call back to give them a control # just to find out that person is on a list being watched and your funds won't go through either! Grande was suppose to be staffed enough to run a daily operation in every department! Bad business in my book! Management should explain to you why this happened! Let us know what they say!
