Casino Dealers Suspected of Illegal Sports Betting

WASHINGTON -- As reported by the News Tribune: ``Two employees of Luciano's Casino & Waterfront Ristorante have been arrested as part of an investigation of illegal sports betting at the Tacoma card room.

``Luong Lam, 38, and Randy Lizama, 23, were booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree professional gambling. Lizama also was suspected of first-degree cheating. They appeared Monday in Pierce County Court.

``The investigation is continuing and additional employees might be punished, said Susan Arland, spokeswoman for the state Gambling Commission.

``Agents do not believe the casino organization or its owner, Dan Hilger, were involved in illegal activity, Arland said.

``…Luciano's has suspended Lam and Lizama, and they could be fired depending on the outcome of the case, Hilger said Monday.

```Luciano's management has a zero tolerance policy and practice regarding any illegal activity at our casino,' Hilger said. 'Such activity has not been and will not be tolerated.'…" @@

That is hilarious, please find me a cardroom anywhere that the management stops their dealers from gambling. Ridiculous, I would say at least half the male dealers are big time football bettors in any cardroom. Most are betting with each other or the customers a good deal of the time. These guys need to quit with this silly looking official statement.

The government isn't chasing down some guy betting 50$ on football. my guess is these guys were moving some serious cash.

When i played poker at the B&M in auburn, WA they(the dealers) were talking about playing poker online etc etc.. I'm sure it just takes a few more conversations and a few trips to get close to whoever is the poker room bookie.

The sad thing is these guys are total degenerates in these poker rooms. I saw this guy that was on the top hour list.. he had played 1400 hours in a 3 month period? That's like half of his time alive! I checked out his cards a couple times rubbernecking when i was out of the hand and he was mucking them and he had like 36o chasing a gutshot to the river. pathetic!

There are a few dealers with some brains and class in there. We had some pretty decent chats but it always held up them dealing the cards to others so i tried to keep it to a minimum. Nothing's worse than the guy at tulalip who started going off about his everquest stories (noone at the table played or cared) for hours dealing at about 30% pace.
