Sorry Wil, I think just the opposite as you.

Think he will play for several reasons.

The very main one being what Brett's agent described here.........

I know his dad would insist that he play the game,” said Cook, who had known the senior Favre for about 15 years, ever since Brett Favre graduated from college. "No question. His dad would tell him get out there and play."

Thats a bullcrap cliche,"MY DAD WOULD WANT ME TO PLAY", he needs to be with the rest of his family in this time of mourning! After the funeral then he might want to continue, but for these next 2 or 3 days he should be with his family! They need him now!!

I lost my father in an accident which happened in an extremely similiar fashion when I was only 19 years of age.

I don't know what Brett should do. He's older than I was but it's never a good time to lose a parent and I think he is more mature than I was at 19.
Whatever he does--will be "well with his soul".
God Bless.

Jim-
His entire family have informed Brett they insist that he play in tonights game.

If he can handle it, there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that the best thing he could do would be to play.

He will return to be with his family immediately after the game.

Get home with your family Brett. Football means little in the real world when your mother, wife, and kids need you. No way does he play....

Brett should do whatever he feels is right for himself and his family. Neither decision would be wrong.

IMO anyone that opts to play a game over grieving with their family is seriously out of touch with reality. Perhaps the whole family is.

This one boggles me.

I can see both arguments here. I think we just respect whatever Brett chooses to do. What an emotional game for him if he plays.

I have to wonder what kind of pressure he is under to play.

I lost my mom September 26th, 2001 (2 weeks after the 911 attacks).

I can't imagine his head being in the game.

Sorry Fish, I didn't get to comment so just one more please.

I am one year removed from his fathers age and am a father. He has to play this one for his dad. This Monday night game will be a son's tribute to a football father. I'm sure his dad will be with him tonight for every play and would have it no other way. And I'll bet Favre will have one of his greatest games.

As for the grieving family, I'm sure Brett playing this one for dad will do more to bring them together tonight than anything he could do back home. There will be time enough for grieving. I know too much about grief. I could write a book about it. Believe me I know.
