NO experienced sports bettors worth their weight in gold will be putting a penny on the Seahawks today.

Betting a public backed -14.5 point favorite is in no way a means to keep ones head above water in this business!!

If any of you are seriously thinking of laying this number, please understand the odds are tremendously stacked against you.

Understand, win or lose with the Seahawks, this is NOT a wise bet.

This post is aimed at the many newcomers to the world of NFL betting here at THERX as the majority of experienced bettors allready know this.

On a final note, if you choose to not play the Seahawks because of this post and they win, do not kick yourself....or me.

Just have the inner fortitude to know that in the long run betting teams such as this will land you in the poor house quicker than you can say "HELP!"

Have a safe Sunday everyone!

Make it a profitable one also.

Solid advise Fish, but Hammerin' Hank says lay the points.

Now, I'm torn LOL

Seriously, I woud never lay 14 on an nfl game. I am afraid to lay 3 normally.

Betting Arizona in THIS kind of situation, over time, would put you in the black side of the ledger.

No, this is not a teaseable play.

ps- If you have read some of my posts in the pasts, you will know that one of my major rules in the NFL is that I never never never never lay over -3 in the NFL.

Teasers are best when you send them through key numbers. Fourteen is NOT a key number by any stretch of the imagination. Best bet is to tease small dogs (+1 to +3 to +7/+9) or small faves (-2.5 to +3.5). The more key numbers you pick up, the better off you are.

Seahawks score late to cover. Still very good advice from Fish.

I agree 100% with Fish's theory, but the Cardinals are just an abortion on the road.

(No, I don't lay 14.5 vs ANYONE in the nfl)

Sorry if I got some of you off of a winner with this advice.

Hopefully you can adhere to this advice over a lifetime and in the long run you will profit.

Haha, I must be a square because I played the Hawks! I can't understand how a team that hasn't put one decent effort up on the road suddenly could be even a decent play when they are in their last road game and have nothing to play for. The Hawks gave half an effort, they didn't look interested at all in the second half, and still covered.

Call me crazy, but as a general rule I think betting chalk at reasonable prices in the last 3 weeks of the season is the best way to go. Taking uninterested teams that in many cases aren't even trying just drives me crazy. Some of these guys realize the coach won't be around and others already are thinking about what jersey they will be wearing next year. The guys that will give the effort are backups and guys trying for a shot next season and I would hate to hope I covered because a guy that had inferior ability was the key to the game. I know the public goes crazy for some chalk and I avoid it when the number starts to get out of control, but the simple rule here is bet the game early on and don't wait for gameday to have what was a reasonable number get out of reach.
