Very rarely to tell you the truth.

Sometimes when I am with family and all I want to do is check the LIVE LINES screen.

I do sometimes, only when I lose though,lol...Its been a brutal year for me personally... Hell last year I felt like a King, this year I just suck, and absolutely no breaks...I never would gamble with anything but spare money. That being said, I could use that spare money for 'other' things sometimes lol

Once in awhile when the weekend has perfect weather and I spend 48 hours gambling and wake up monday morning after losing and wonder WTF I was doing the past two days, YES!

yes definately...especially when I am running up & down & up & down so that I can place 1/2 time bets & bets in running...

Man the girlfriend gets pissed....She hates it when I am 'obsessed'

My advice: bet your games...then dont check the scores till after the game is over (unless you are watching it of course!!!).

10 Questions to ask yourself:
1. Have you often gambled longer than you had planned?
2. Have you often gambled until your last dollar was gone?
3. Have thoughts of gambling have caused you to lose sleep?
4. Have you used your income or savings to gamble while letting bills go unpaid?
5. Have you made repeated, unsuccessful attempts to stop gambling?
6. Have you broken the law or considered breaking the law to finance your gambling?
7. Have you borrowed money to finance your gambling?
8. Have you felt depressed or suicidal because of your gambling losses?
9. Have you been rem orseful after gambling?
10. Have you gambled to get money to meet your financial obligations?

If you answer yes to any of these questions you may have a problem.

My hypothetical question is: can you be a 'degenerate' if you consistently and predictably win sizable amounts?

Guys

Wilheim i m not cutting you up at all, just the survey.
If you asked those questions but substituted gambling for about 300 million other possibilities you would be addicted to everything.

I dont need some guy who makes 50,000 dollars a year who works 9 hours a day in an office telling me if I have a problem or not.

I work same hours from anywhere I want, no boss, same money.

ITS ONLY A PROBLEM IF YOU LOSE

augs15.....

whatever works for you buddy, but those questions seem pretty reasonable to me - if anyone answers yes to a sizeable number of those questions they should seriously ask themselves if their life would be better without gambling

Aug15 - 300 million other possibilities is a stretch. The fact is, that most addictions have a lot of similar symptoms, and consequences. Take drinking, or drugs, most of the questions apply to those addictions also. Question 10 is an exception: Have you gambled to get money to meet your financial obligations? This question really does'nt apply to many physical addictions like over eating or drinking. Any way, the point is if "Gambling" caused anyone to answer yes to any of the questions, that person "may" have a problem, or to answer the question asked by the topic, be a degenerate gambler. Only you know if you have a gambling problem, or not. I have seen thousands of gamblers, from 25 cent slot players to "whales" who play high stakes Baccarat, some can take it of leave it, some can't quit until they hit bottom. You are under no obligation to give any credibility at all, to this or any other survey. I simply posted the questions to add more information to the topic.

wil, what up bra?

i answered yes to 3, 5 and 9.

its not on the list but, sometimes i have to get up in the middle of a movie my wife rented and check the frickin' internet to get a score. while i'm doing it, it seems fine but later on when i look back at it, it seems like i am a degenerate.

she would...if she only knew. that's another problem. probably the biggest problem. and, its not because i am losing money. i went back and checked...i am up about $4,500 the last 2 years. its all the time i spend on the net and how my mood gets affected when i lose.

Hey Blue, things are good. Listen, you take care of your family, hold down your job, pay your bills, and maintain a lifestyle. Just because you answered yes to a few questions does'nt make you bad or degenerate, I have answered yes to the same 3. Notice at the bottom the key word is "may". The list is like questions a doctor might ask to see if you have some sort of medical problem, having a few symptoms of say, high blood pressure does'nt mean you have it. I know plenty of guys that have done some crazy stuff to get a score, in fact that would make a pretty good thread by itself. I know I have sneaked into bedroooms at house partys to call scorephone in the old days to get scores, stuff like that. Try to focus on the positive things you do in life, like being a father, husband and hard working citizen who supports his family.
FWIW - I like the Bucs to have their way and call the score tommorow vs. the Falcons.

You re right 300 million is definetly a stretch.
lookin back on it probaly should have used lower number..my fault

I just hate how general public gives gambling such a bad rap. There s lots of people who gamble who dont lose their house, car, and wife.ITs acceptable and sad if you lose your money on stocks, so why when you lose in gambling are you a degenerate.

Too much negative stereotyping.

Especially on this site there are loads of people who gamble responsibly, but yet still answer yes to a few of those questions.

Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

Brad
