Thanks guys. Guess because this deal somehow results in ARod making less, the union (are you kidding me, guys making 5 mil a year need a union?...joke) said no dice. What does Boston have to do, give him a small country?
My biggest fear coming in was what would happen to team chemistry if the deal didn't go thru and now it looks like they will have to deal with it.
Especially when one year Red Sox Kevin Millar mouths off about being better off with A-Rod. It would be like Keyshawn Johnson going to the Titans and telling reporters that they'd be better off with Peyton Manning than Steve McNair.
IMO, all in all they would've been better off never attempting the trade and just standing pat after Schilling and Foulkes.
The rules are the rules & have to be followed. I'm glad they didn't get the trade done under the way they wanted too. If it happens, then so be it as long as it is within the known rules.
Can't believe I'm going to agree with a Sox fan but the MLBPA is a joke with regard to this situation. There are intangibles that have value as well and I'm not certain that the union is including those when they measure the "value" that Arod receives from Boston.
With that said, I hope the deal does NOT go through so Arod and sit and rot in Texas with his $250+ million. He wanted to chase the dollar so he got what he wanted now sit and stew. Can you imagine how good Seattle would have been had he not left and they kept a few others!?
